Our Module 7: Week 7 assignment focuses on various aspects of “hard power,” including US defense, deterrence, preventative, and preemptive capabilities related to nuclear and conventional warfare. These include missile defense, arms control diplomacy, peacekeeping operations, asymmetric and hybrid warfare, and WMDs. This assignment will give you an understanding of the important role that hard power often plays in achieving American foreign policy goals.
INSTRUCTIONS
This assignment draws from Chapters 12 and 13 in the Hastedt text as well as the assigned video presentations, and your own research. For this assignment carefully consider each of the three Critical Thinking Questions at the end of Chapters 12 and 13, answering each separately with as many relevant examples as possible. Also, briefly use biblical and extra-biblical to inform your own reasoning on whether a CWV requires or prohibits any specific approach to either nuclear or conventional warfare or deterrent strategy? For example, the Just War Tradition.
• Write a quality 1,250–1,500-word research paper demonstrating your understanding of America’s military capabilities, both nuclear and conventional, by answering each of the questions in Chapters 12 and 13 (see above).
• The paper must be in current APA style. The paper must include a title page and reference page also in current APA format.
• You must include citations to a sufficient number of appropriate scholarly sources to fully support your assertions and conclusions. Each paper must contain at least 5-7 scholarly sources original to this paper and not including the course textbook.
