Paper Option #1 (Raise Child) Guidelines. This paper will be 3 pages in length, single-spaced with f-inch margins in 12-point Times New Roman font. The main text should be 2 single- spaced pages, which is approximately 1500 words. The third page will be a list of references.
Students are expected to properly cite information that is not their own (e.g., textbook, peer- reviewed articles, lectures) using APA in-text citation and reference style.
For this paper, you will explore the development of your virtual child. You will write a paper based on the integration of your virtual child’s experiences and what you have learned in this course (from readings, lectures, discussions, videos, etc). Using data from the simulation, explore your virtual child’s experiences through 1 theoretical framework (e.g., Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory, Attachment, Piaget’s cognitive theory, Erikson’s psychosocial theory) and 1 topic covered in class (e.g., friends, school, identity, gender, race, culture, media, internalizing and externalizing problems, cognitive, social, physical, or emotional development). In applying your chosen theory and topic to your virtual experience, also reflect on issues of privilege and oppression, intersectionality, and/or institutional stratification. You are required to locate and integrate 3 high-quality empirical articles that exemplify social science research regarding your topics of choice. Your grade will be based on your ability to follow the directions for the paper, the quality of your writing, and your ability to link the experiences of your virtual child with course materials.
