Assume Student A and Student B are in your classroom. Apply what you have learned from the IRIS Center Module and our text to reflect on the following student behavior scenarios:

discuss the following:

Which interventions or actions could you use to influence the student to behave appropriately? Explain your choices.

Which domains of Social-Emotional Learning could be utilized in your instruction to support the student’s appropriate behavior in the future? Explain how the SEL domains will help.

We all have different experiences going through life. Those experiences shape how we view the world and how we behave in it. In this assignment you are going to look at your own experiences of the world and culture we live in by being reflexive. As you have learned over the past few weeks, reflexivity is “disciplined self-reflection” meant to build deeper understanding, not just of ourselves, but of the larger world.

The goal of reflexivity is to understand others so that we can understand ourselves and grow. To be disciplined, the reflection needs to be purposeful and directed, meaning we need to look at something specific in the world and then compare it to our own personal experiences and decide if this new knowledge changes how we think and feel.

This assignment provides an opportunity for you to delve deeper into your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and gain a better understanding of your own personal lens. By being reflexive, you will better understand how social and cultural norms, assumptions, biases, environment, and background shape your worldview.

Requirements
Find an article published within the last 18 months that discusses issues related to one of the following topics:

Economic inequity.
Racial inequity.
Global inequity.
Health care inequity.
Gender and sexuality.
Then in a 2–3 page paper, discuss the following:

Summarize the issue presented.
Describe your overall impression of the issue as presented in the article:
Do you agree or disagree with the author? Why?
What in your personal experience may have influenced your thinking about this issue? Consider social/cultural norms, religious beliefs, environment, and background.

Choose one of the following groups:

1. Classifications based on English language learners;

2. Classifications through ability grouping/tracking;

3. Classifications in academic programs based on gender;

4. Classifications in sports programs based on gender; and

5. Classifications to assign students to specific schools for racial balance.

In a 600-750-word essay, address the following for the group that you have chosen:

1. Summarize the factual background on how the students are classified;

2. Identify the legal issues presented by these classifications; and

3. Describe what equal protection requires.

Why do you think the ASA crafted such a detailed set of ethical principles? What type of study could put human participants at risk? Think of some examples of studies that might be harmful. Do you think that, in the name of sociology, some researchers might be tempted to cross boundaries that threaten human rights? Why?
What type of data do surveys gather? For what topics would surveys be the best research method? What drawbacks might you expect to encounter when using a survey? To explore further, ask a research question and write a hypothesis. Then create a survey of three or more questions relevant to the topic. Provide a rationale for your questions.

For this presentation you are to reflect and address the following information/questions:
Provide a brief definition of Conflict Theory.
Provide a brief definition of Symbolic Interaction.
What changes have been made in various aspects of society (work, school, shopping, etc.)? Explain them through the lens of Conflict Theory and Symbolic Interaction Theory.
How do Conflict Theory and Symbolic Interaction Theory explain or impact organizational change?
Identify at least one other sociological theory, and demonstrate how it applies to organizational change in our society.
Of the three identified theories (Conflict, Symbolic Interaction, and the theory of your choice), which theory do you believe best explains organizational changes in our society?
