Exploring the Field of Human Services: History, Trends, Roles, and Career Paths

 

Human services professionals work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, mental health centers, addiction treatment programs, child welfare, courts, probation, schools, and food banks. This course serves as your introduction to the field. In the final assignment. you will apply what you learned about the history of the human services field and about current trends, theory, ethics, the helping process, roles, and the variety of settings in which human services professionals are employed.
The project is supported by four formative milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two, Four, Five, and Six. The final submission will be due in Module Seven.
This assessment addresses the following course outcomes:
• Analyze the history of the field of human services for its relationship to current trends in the field
• Describe theories, values, and ethics for guiding work as a human services professional
• Differentiate between the various roles human services professioills employ facilitating the helping process
• Research human services employment opportunities for informing career paths

 

Roles

In this course, we look at a variety of different human resource theories and styles. We also look at the different kinds of perspectives on ethical issues and how they fit into HRM. You are required to write a paper on a HRM topic: Roles
Identify, specifically, the strengths of your topic and what some weaknesses are. Drawing on various sources, explain the details of your topic. Assume I know nothing about this topic and share your research on it with me. Why is it important? What have you learned? What are the Pro’s and Con’s? When would this be used? What is the history on this topic?

Roles, limitations, and expectations of intelligence

Describe the roles, limitations, and expectations of intelligence in support of the homeland security enterprise. Think not only of the national level but state and local levels. 2) Consider this from a legal and operational perspective and explain your thoughts. 3) In addition, elaborate on how the roles of the U.S. intelligence community evolved since the end of the Cold War after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 to September 11, 2001. 4) Lastly, focus on the ODNI era and explain the changes that occurred in the last 20+ years.

In this discussion, you will examine various IT roles to find one of interest to you. You will learn about the skills and technologies used in these roles and how they can be transferred to other IT disciplines.
For your initial post, use a website such as the Bureau of Labor and Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook( https://www.bls.gov/ooh/) or CompTIA’s Cyberstates Interactive Map ( https://www.cyberstates.org/index.html#) to determine your areas of interest in the IT field. Then, choose a job title or role in that area of interest. In your post, describe how this role is situated within the broader IT fields discussed in this unit, and define the responsibilities of the role.
In your responses to your peers, discuss the job title or role they chose. In your response, describe the tools, skills, and certifications your peer would need to be successful in the identified role. Additionally, describe at least one other role that these skills and certifications could be used in.
