Racial Autobiography: Navigating Identity and Societal Influences

Racial Auto-Biographical Term Paper Instructions:
The term paper aims to apply what you have learned in this course through a sociological lens. Examining your own racial history is an empowering exercise. A racial autobiography is a written narrative that explores how race has manifested in one’s life. Please answer the following:
1. Introduce your racial identity. This includes your family tree, where your family originated from, etc a brief family history of the past, and how your family came to live in the United States.
2. Identify key realizations, times, and moments across your life regarding your personal story around race. Include whether race has ever come up in a personal situation and whether you addressed it, how, and why not.
3. Relate how social institutions have affected your race. What has been the impact of institutions towards your race? (Social institutions are education, the media, the family, government, etc….)
4. What positive contributions has your race made to our society, past and present, in your opinion? What traditions and beliefs would you share with someone learning about your race and ethnicity for the first time? 5. From Reflection to Action: Has this course increased your awareness of race and increased your drive to build to be open to experience other racial communities, traditions, beliefs, and customs?
6. Must be in APA format.
Sociological Analysis; Incorporate sociological terms from the textbook that are relevant to your autobiography. Terms should be highlighted in BOLD and should also include a definition of the term followed up in your own words. You must use at least 6 sociological terms in your assignment.
