Select a career in human services that interest you. Visit the Occupational Outlook Handbook http://www.bls.gov/ooh/ and answer the following questions: 1) What are the primary tasks associated with this career (in other words, describe the career)? 2) What are the educational requirements, salary and projected growth of this career? 3) What motivated you to choose this career path? What values or characteristics would be reflected in this work?

Go to Bureau of Labor and statistics website.
Go to occupational outlook handbook E, and analyze your profession/major’s job outlook according to BLS, and answer the following questions:

  1. How does the occupation fit your skills and interests?
  2. What will you be doing in the occupation?
  3. What is the necessary education and/or training?
  4. How many jobs are there in the occupation currently?
  5. Is the occupation projected to grow, decline, or remain unchanged? by how much and Why?
  6. How much does this occupation pay? What do the top 10 percent earn? The bottom 10 percent?
  7. Why did you select this occupation as your career?
  8. What impact will technology have on your occupation?
  9. What impact will international competition have on your occupation?
  10. What do you like most about this profession?
