Quality initiatives enable healthcare organizations to achieve their goal of improving care while enhancing patient outcomes. This week, you will review quality improvement initiatives as a way to measure, analyze, improve, and control the ways care is delivered to patients.

Write a 2-3 page paper in which you:

Explain the importance of healthcare quality in healthcare organizations by providing at least three examples.
Analyze three quality initiatives found in the chapter readings that are prevalent in healthcare organizations.
Explain quality in a healthcare system using three real world examples of quality initiatives in current use at a healthcare organization.

Instructions: Please describe the quality improvement project you want to complete in the LC competencies. Please be very specific- and provide the data
you are using to base your quality improvement project on. Please do not choose a problem and then try and find data to support your problem. The data
used for the Quality Imrovement Project should be data that already exists within the facility’s reporting requirements either internally with the quality
department/committee or to a national database. Please provide the time frame the data was collected, preferably within the last 6 months. Additionally,
provide the facility goal or benchmark. You need to able to objectively demonstrate in this post that the data you have supports a QI project.

Your first task has been penned by the CEO to prepare for the accreditation process by conducting a literature review on the impact of accreditation on quality of care. The review of literature should include the historical underpinnings of quality initiatives since the publishing of the blockbuster report by the Institute of Medicine – To Err is Human – and an evaluation of the developments in quality initiatives over the past two decades. Upon completing the review of literature, you are asked to compile a report highlighting the history of quality improvement and the significance of quality initiatives on the future of care delivery. Your report should support the organization’s goal of earning accreditation through the Joint Commission.

An assessment of the accreditation process and its role in improving quality of care.

Support for accreditation based on the review of literature on quality from the historical perspective to future implications.
A discussion on the fundamental changes that have been implemented since the IOM’s report and potential for continuous quality improvement.
Recommendations for your organization to prepare for the accreditation process based on your review of literature and your assessment of the overall process.
