Health care organizations

Health care organizations are constantly evolving to meet industry and patient expectations. Leadership should inspire and provide a vision regarding expectations, specifically what the organization is trying to achieve in terms of positive health care outcomes for their patients. As a leader in the health care delivery system it is vitally important to communicate a clear and concise vision. However, it is also important for leadership to be flexible and demonstrate the ability to make necessary adjustments; in other words, leaders must possess the ability to change their leadership styles as situations within and outside of the industry evolve. Management within the health care delivery system will provide structure, implement processes, and ensure that materials are provided for their staff to perform at an optimal level. Managers need to provide concise and clear instructions as they are tasked with ensuring that industry standards are maintained; therefore, managers should possess exceptional communication skills.

In this discussion, you will evaluate leadership roles and management responsibilities in a health care setting. In your initial post, address the following:

· Describe the differences between a manager and a leader, including the functional activities of each role in the health care environment.

· Discuss the key leadership traits fundamental for health care organizational effectiveness.

· Explain what it takes to be an effective and, ultimately, a successful leader or manager.

· Finally, in light of health care reforms, an ever-changing economy, and an increased need for services, describe two pressing barriers and challenges associated with health care leadership.

Throughout the past few weeks, you have been working on the many components of your Community Needs Assessment. You identified the top health problems in your community to propose a local health initiative. Then, you conducted a detailed SWOT analysis for your initiative. This week, you propose a pilot program to evaluate your initiative.
The Assignment
For this Assignment, in 4 pages design a pilot program and evaluation to address community needs for your Final Project initiative proposal. In your Assignment, be sure to include the following items:
• Description of your proposed program that you developed in Weeks 3 and 6
• Description of your proposed pilot program
o Describe a small scale program that will help to determine the feasibility of your final project
o Describe how many participants, staff, volunteers, and organizations will be involved
• Description of your proposed evaluation of the pilot program including a tool (Six Sigma, TQM, etc…) to improve the proposed piloted processes
o You may also develop a survey, use focus groups, or interviews for the evaluation process
• Description of what other health care organizations and/or nongovernmental organizations have done to address your initiative

Data for External Organizations

choose a quality-improvement standard within health care to discuss. This standard could be related to credentialing, patient safety, utilization management services, home health care, or long-term care. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of 6–8 slides that will display the following information:
Define and explain the quality process you chose.
Define descriptive versus inferential statistics. If you were to survey your members, describe the form of the 4 levels of measurement that would be suited for your task (i.e. nominal, interval, ordinal, and ratio).
Identify the purpose of the measure.
Illustrate how patients or members have benefited or will benefit from the process.
Identify which types of health care organizations are impacted by the standard.
Based on your knowledge of the standard being discussed, provide 1–3 changes that you might recommend. If you do not have any recommendations, then provide your reasons for not having a recommendation.
Differentiate the four levels of measurement and the differences between descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
