Evidence, Policies, and Procedures

The purpose of this discussion is for learners to explore how evidence is used in maintaining policies and procedures.
Discussion Questions
Nursing practice should be evidenced-based and the process of updating policies and procedures varies by facility. Feel free to discuss what you know about your current or previous places of employment.
Answer the following questions. Your post should look like:
• Paragraph one: Do you know how policies and procedures are evaluated for quality in your current practice (or previous if not currently employed)? If you do know, explain the evaluation process. If you do not know, explain why it would be important to know and who you could contact to learn more.
• Paragraph two: In your opinion, how often should policies and procedures be revised or reviewed? Justify your answer.
• Paragraph three: In your opinion, who should be responsible for reviewing policies and procedures? Things to address: Committee or individual? Full time or part time position? Compensation?
• Resources: Where did you find your data?
