After reading the case, Satya Nadella at Microsoft: Instilling a Growth Mindset, and this week’s readings on diversity, share your perspective on how diversity can be a critical factor in building a high-performance team. Cite examples from your own experience, and also consider the challenges that can exist in aligning a diverse team around a common mission when trying to lead a large-scale change initiativE.
In this final discussion, look back on your experiences in the course and provide an overview of what you have learned from the course with regard to DIVERSITY. You can start by reviewing your presentation and your answer to the Module One discussion. Make sure you address the following questions:
How have your definitions of diversity and social identity changed? This was my answer from module one: Diversity defines the differences and similarities among people. It includes identities, perspectives and points of view; differences among groups of people and individuals based on ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender, disabilities, religion, sexual orientation. I believe different individuals, different views , different experiences and backgrounds do have an impact in nursing. As professional we care for many patients that come from many different backgrounds and cultures and through understanding of diversity, communication with patients will result in better patient care.
How do the four lenses approach the study of diversity with respect to the individual and society?
How do the four lenses represent a way of seeing diversity?
What are the implications of diversity on the future?
How are you going to implement what you have learned in this course and used in your presentation into your own life?
