Business Studies – cultural awareness

WSU Carson College of Business
Summer 2018

End of Program Assessment (All Majors)

Instructions: Two of these important goals are: (1) cultural awareness and recognition of the global implications of business decisions, and (2) professional, socially responsible and ethical awareness. Specifically, with regard to the first goal, we want our graduates to be able to identify global economic and cultural factors that may impact business decisions, and to analyze the impact of these factors. We also want our graduates to consider global economic and cultural factors when making business recommendations. For the second goal, we want our graduates to be able to identify an ethical issue in a business context and to be able to apply ethical and societal concepts when proposing and defending courses of action.

The purpose of this exercise is to assess your attainment of these goals and provides key feedback for continuous improvement of our curriculum.

You will be provided with a case to read and you should address the following issues concerning the case, composed in a word document. It is important to use specifics to support your answers. You should take no more than 120 minutes to complete the exercise.

1. Identify key global (e.g., economic and cultural) factors that may impact business decisions.
2. Analyze the impact of these key global economic and cultural factors on business decisions. As part of your analysis, consider stakeholders affected by the business decisions made.
3. Provide business recommendation(s) for the situation presented in the case scenario. As part of your best recommendation, develop and compare alternative solutions, considering the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
4. Identify any ethical dilemmas presented in the case scenario.
5. Apply ethical and societal concepts to propose and defend a responsible course(s) of action.
