Explore the role of stakeholders and their impact on an organization, the stakeholder model, and the ethical obligations of an organization to those stakeholders. Remember that ethical obligations are duties that a person owes to a company in terms of his or her decisions and how he or she behaves.

After reviewing the lessons for this week, think about various stakeholders for a high end restaurant. It is marketed as a fine dining experience for everyone. Customers can expect high quality food and service. Management is intentionally visible to customers and employees. The chef hand selects the freshest products. As the owner who has to make decisions for the restaurant, respond to the following:

Identify the stakeholders for the restaurant. What ethical obligations would restaurant management have to these stakeholders?
Why should stakeholders be considered during the decision-making process?
How would you use stakeholder feedback to improve the restaurant?

Consider the following scenario:

You are the manager of a local department store when you see a customer with her baby stealing baby formula. You are walking the aisles, checking inventory when you come around the corner and see this situation. The customer puts the baby formula in a bag under the baby seat in the basket. The customer does not see you and continues to shop.

Using the ethical decision making approaches we have been discussing, respond to the following questions:

Based on your ethical decision-making preferences and the ethical-decision making approaches, how would you respond in this situation?
Identify and explain which of the ethical decision-making approaches you used to arrive at your decision.
If you saw your neighbor stealing clothes for herself, would you respond differently to the situation? Why or why not?

Within the Discussion Board area, write 200–250 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

You are a manager at a baby formula manufacturing facility. There are global supply chain issues which are impacting the availability of raw materials and a rapid increase in demand is preventing your company from fulfilling customer orders. There is not enough inventory in stock to provide the product to all of your customers, which include some major supermarkets and smaller stores in your region. Utilizing current production standards, it would be at least 45 days before you can ramp up production to meet the demand. Your production team comes to you with the suggestion that the company decrease the quality of the baby formula to meet demand. Given the limited inventory and the high demand, there are decisions that you have to make as a manager regarding the quality and supply distribution of the product.

Using ethical-decision making models, answer the following questions:

As a manager how would you decide how to divide the available supply of product among the various customers?
Would you alter the production method to get the product on the market sooner although it will diminish its quality?
Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 2 of your fellow classmates with at least a 50–100-word reply about their Primary Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the following question:

What differences or similarities do you see between your posting and other classmates’ postings?
