Advocate for the Death Penalty or Advocate Against the Death Penalty.
Reasons for the DP
1. The DP gives closure to victim’s family.
2. The Federal Constitution states: The Fourteenth Amendment, and the Fifth Amendment includes a due process clause stating that no person shall “be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”. The Fifth Amendment’s Due Process Clause applies to the federal government, while the Fourteenth Amendment’s Due Process Clause applies to state governments
3. The U.S. has always had the DP except for a 4-year period following Furman v. Georgia. The Supreme Court has held the DP to be constitutional in Gregg v. Georgia.
4. The majority of Americans still favor the DP.
