Strategies use to diffuse a conflict

Often, the family members of children with special learning needs feel they know what is best for their children because they know their children best. On the other hand, teachers feel that their education and experience qualify them to do what is best for the child and to give advice to the parents. This can lead to conflicts between the parents and the teachers.
Describe at least two strategies that you can use to diffuse a conflict situation so that the parent-teacher relationship can be collaborative instead of confrontational. Cite at least one source in addition to or that is not one of your textbooks (in-text and in a reference list).
