Exciting Learnings:
Two new concepts that I found exciting during this nursing course were evidence-based practice and therapeutic communication. Understanding the importance of basing nursing interventions on solid research and scientific evidence was enlightening. It was fascinating to learn how evidence-based practice can improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care provided. Additionally, mastering therapeutic communication skills was a rewarding experience as it highlighted the significance of effective nurse-patient interactions in promoting healing and building trust.
Surprising Learnings:
Two new concepts that took me by surprise were the complexity of medication administration and the intricacies of wound care management. Learning about the various medication administration routes, dosage calculations, and potential drug interactions was more intricate than I initially anticipated. Similarly, delving into the detailed process of wound assessment, dressing selection, and wound healing stages opened my eyes to the meticulous care required in wound management.
Challenging Learnings:
Two concepts that I still find challenging are prioritization of care and critical thinking in emergency situations. To overcome these difficulties, I plan to engage in more case studies and simulations to enhance my decision-making skills under pressure. Additionally, seeking guidance from experienced nurses and incorporating time management strategies into my practice will help me improve my ability to prioritize patient care effectively.
