his 4-6 paper (double spaced) will be a literature review on any topic of your choice that we’ve covered regarding low-income children’s well-being. It will breakdown the relationship between poverty and developmental outcomes, and that information will then be used to evaluate existing policies and programs designed to address the problem. You are welcome to choose from the following topics below. However, you can still propose a topic not listed as long as it’s relevant to the course. All topics must be submitted beforehand (see proposal details in later section).
Possible topic:
• Race and Poverty
The paper (body) consists of two major sections:
- A presentation and analysis of existing research on the topic. Aside from the presentation of findings, this section should include an analysis of strengths and limitations of existing research, theoretical perspectives taken, methodology used, and ideas for future research.
- A presentation and analysis of relevant programs and social policies. If such programs have been evaluated, empirical research on the effectiveness of them can be included as well.
Essentially, both sections combined are part of the literature review. Part one will focus more on research describing the “problem” and the 2. part will focus more on attempts to address the program via social policy or programs.
