I am required to create a public diplomacy campaign for a summer course I need it to be related to Qatar
PUBLIC DIPLOMACY HACKATHON
Collaborative and creative problem-solving can assist PD practitioners in various ways. The process of thinking through initiatives, campaigns, and problems can go from blue sky dreaming to concrete solutions. In this module, participants will work in groups to develop new skills, strategies, methodologies, and platforms to determine the best solution as a team.
As part of the 2018 Summer Institute, we have created a Public Diplomacy Hack that will center on real cases and campaigns and using a proven method, produce concrete products/solutions/implementations for presentation.
We need the following from you no later than May 15, 2018. All participants will need to submit a campaign or initiative. This can be something you are currently working on or an idea for future implementation.
All submissions will be reviewed and the Summer Institute team will curate the topics/issues, so remember, your campaign may be selected.

CAMPAIGN SAMPLE
Title: DigiDiploTech: A new strategic priority in [COUNTRY] foreign policy
Presentation of the public diplomacy implications:
[COUNTRY] has appointed a specially designated Tech Ambassador who will spearhead a new tech/diplomacy initiative, making tech and digitization a priority across the [COUNTRY] Foreign Service, including at our embassy network and our international innovation centers.
Just as [COUNTRY] engages in a diplomatic dialogue with countries, we also need to establish comprehensive relations with tech companies such as Google and Facebook; startups in Silicon Valley, Shenzhen and elsewhere; and last but not least universities, civil society, cities and regions with valuable insights in this field.
[COUNTRY] also has something to offer, as it has already to a very large degree taken advantage of digitization. The EU Commission’s Digital Economy and Society Index ranks [COUNTRY] as no. 1. In a diplomacy vocabulary, this is ‘soft power’. But we also have challenges. We need more IT specialists in our workforce and our e-trade balance is negative.
The PD Department at the [COUNTRY] MFA is tasked with developing a public diplomacy campaign in support of the new initiative. The purpose is to raise awareness among foreign stakeholders, as described above, not only of the new initiative, but also of [COUNTRY] strongholds more generally within the field of tech and digitization.
The campaign will be geared towards social media and other digital platforms with content disseminated both by the Tech Ambassador, [COUNTRY] Missions abroad as well as relevant public and private institutions inside and outside the country.
Names of targeted public that you are working with, stakeholders, and other actors involved:
Targeted public will mainly be tech companies and research communities, but also governement agencies, in global tech hubs. An important part of the effort will be to mobilize relevant stakeholders in [COUNTRY], such as the [COUNTRY] Agency for Digitization, the Agency for Data Supply and Efficiency as well as research institutes and business associations, to engage in a digital public diplomacy campaign abroad
Activities taken, social and traditional media components, and impediments:
New tech-ambassador given numerous interviews to domestic and international media. For example:
• Media Example #1 [insert hyperlink]
• Media Example #2 [insert hyperlink]
Main impediment: initiative not yet fully defined. Limits to how much detail on the initiative can be provided to media.
