The industry I have chosen for the research project is the Prop Home Industry, more specifically for Sony Pictures.
In this assignment, you will utilize the concepts and analysis tools learnt in this course to examine a company in the industry you have studied and submit a written report. The main purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the company’s current business strategy and recommend changes based on your analyses of external and internal conditions.
Written Report (due by the last class meeting day)
Please assume this report is to be read by top management. It should to be typed, double-spaced, with 1- inch margins, 11 or 12-point font. The suggested length is 10-12 pages (not including cover page, exhibits and references). The expected standard is that of a professional consultant. Grading will be based upon application of the tools and concepts, quality of the examination and insights, and style.

C. Current Business model, strategy, and performance
1. Review the company’s value proposition and value creation process (Business model – How does the company create value for customers?)
2. Explain how the company is positioned for competitive advantage (Business strategy – How does the company compete with competitors?)
3. Evaluate the company’s financial and market performance (based on available data)
Note: As discussed in class, we need to couple strategy and business model analysis.

1. How does the company’s strategy addresse opportunities and threats facing the industry? (This should correspond to the industry analysis presentation.)
2. How does the company’s strategy build on its internal strengths and deal with its weaknesses? (This should be based on your internal analysis of the company.)
3. How do the company’s main competitors react to the strategy? And how do their reactions affect the company’s performance and competitive moves?
4. How can the company hold on and/or develop competitive advantage in the next 3-5 years? What strategic changes should the company make? How to implement these changes?
E. Growth/Corporate Strategy
If the company is a single-business firm, should it expand into other businesses? Why and how? If the company has multiple businesses, what is the relationship between the focal business unit and others? Should the company modify its business portfolio? Why and how?
