On Earth As It Is In Heaven
- What is your understanding of “Dominion”? How do you respond to the terminology of “Dominion Mandate” and “Dominion Theology”?
Dominion is a biblical term that refers to the authority that God gave humans to rule over the earth. The Dominion Mandate is the belief that Christians are called to exercise this authority in all areas of life, including government, education, business, and the arts. Dominion Theology is a theological framework that seeks to understand and apply the Dominion Mandate.
I think the terminology of “Dominion Mandate” and “Dominion Theology” is helpful because it highlights the importance of Christians taking responsibility for the world. However, I also think it is important to be careful not to misuse these terms, as they can be seen as advocating for a form of Christian imperialism.
- What are the core components of Dominion Theology? What are the core scriptural foundations for Dominion Theology?
The core components of Dominion Theology include:
- The belief that Christians are called to rule over the earth.
- The belief that the Bible gives Christians authority to govern.
- The belief that Christians should seek to influence all aspects of society.
The core scriptural foundations for Dominion Theology include:
- Genesis 1:26-28
- Matthew 28:18-20
- Romans 13:1-7
- What are your opinions regarding Dominion Theology? What are your “Ah-ha” moments relating to Dominion Theology? What challenges do you face in accepting Dominion Theology?
I am generally supportive of the goals of Dominion Theology, but I have some concerns about the way it has been implemented in some cases. I think it is important to be careful not to impose our own cultural values on other cultures, and to be respectful of the diversity of Christian beliefs.
One of my “Ah-ha” moments relating to Dominion Theology was when I realized that the Bible does not give us a blueprint for how to build a perfect society. Instead, it gives us principles that we can apply to our own context. This realization helped me to see that Dominion Theology is not about creating a utopia, but about living out our faith in the real world.
One of the challenges I face in accepting Dominion Theology is that it can be difficult to reconcile with the fact that the world is a fallen place. It is easy to get discouraged when we see the evil and injustice in the world, and it can be tempting to give up on the idea of bringing about change. However, I believe that we are called to be salt and light in the world, and that we can make a difference by living out our faith in all areas of life.
