Meeting the Outcomes in Gerontological Nursing
Introduction
Gerontological nursing plays a crucial role in providing quality care to the older adult population. This paper aims to identify how the eight outcomes in the gerontological nursing course were met through intentional learning, leadership, clinical reasoning, effective communication, and collaboration. By analyzing issues and scenarios, integrating evidence, demonstrating clinical reasoning, communicating effectively, and proposing culturally-competent care, these outcomes have been achieved.
Outcome 1: Analyzing Issues and Scenarios in Gerontological Nursing
To meet this outcome, I actively engaged in analyzing various issues and scenarios related to gerontological nursing. Through case studies and discussions, I demonstrated leadership and caring by providing culturally-competent, client-centered care to older adult clients. By considering their unique needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds, I ensured that my care was tailored to their individual requirements.
Outcome 2: Demonstration of Intentional Learning with Reflection
As a gerontological nursing student, intentional learning with reflection was a vital aspect of my education. I consistently engaged in self-reflection to enhance my understanding of caring for older adult clients.
