Enhance your take on the character

If you were directing a production of Hamlet, what are some aspects or characteristics you’d look for in casting your Hamlet to enhance your take on the character? How would you engage in a conversation with that actor playing Hamlet about the character’s grasp on their state of mind? Where does Hamlet begin mentally? Where does Hamlet end mentally? Are they sane? Are they insane? Does their grasp on their sanity change over the course of the play? Start at the beginning of the play, trace an arc, and show me at least two important moments in the text that support your ideas (at least 400 words).
