The right to freedom of speech

The right to freedom of speech is a cornerstone of the bill of rights and the American system of government, but this freedom is not without limits. Discuss five ways this is important to Information Technology. Create a Canva brochure that you could use with new IT employees in the work setting so that YOU and the employee understand the importance of Freedom of Speech and the IT professional.

Analyzing & Visualizing Data

Select any example visualization or infographic and imagine the contextual factors have changed:

If the selected project was a static work, what ideas do you have for potentially making it usefully interactive? How might you approach the design if it had to work on both mobile/tablet and desktop?
If the selected project was an interactive work, what ideas do you have for potentially deploying the same project as a static work? What compromises might you have to make in terms of the interactive features that wouldn’t now be viable?
What about the various annotations that could be used? Thoroughly explain all of the annotations, color, composition, and other various components to the visualization.
What other data considerations should be considered and why?
Update the graphic using updated data, in the tool of your choice (that we’ve used in the course), explain the differences.

The doctrine of informed consent

A woman in her mid-thirties suffered from a rare malignancy in her brain and around her spinal cord. She had surgery, and most of the tumor mass was removed, but residual tumor remained in the brain and around the spinal cord. The doctors informed her that chemotherapy and radiation were possible treatment options but could cause serious problems such as sepsis, a permanent loss of IQ and stature, and even death. She wished to proceed with the therapy.
After undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, she did independent research and read of several drugs being administered for cancer in other states that were unapproved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and were illegal in their home state but were touted by physicians using them as “miracle cures.” The woman is considering suing her physician for failure to disclose alternative treatments, thus depriving her of informed consent.
A court awarded summary judgment to the physician.
Respond to the following questions about this case:

In your opinion, does the court’s decision seem warranted? Why or why not?
Under the doctrine of informed consent, should a physician be responsible for informing patients of all treatment options, even if some of the treatments are illegal or not yet proven effective? Explain your answer.

Explain and support why you think the product has the elasticity that it does based on how price sensitive you think people are when it comes to this product or service.
