Understanding Extremism: Causes and Responses

View the following video of the Hamas leader giving a speech in 2011.

Note that the speech includes Holocaust denial, denial that Israel is the homeland of the Jews, citation of Quran in a call to banish or kill all Jews, and conspiracy theory about a ‘great scheme’ on the part of the Jews. Keep in mind of course that Hamas is an extremist organization, by no means representative of mainstream Islam. Nonetheless, Hamas was elected into power by Palestinians in Gaza in 2006 and remains in power today. What do you think causes such extremism? How should Israel respond to this?

The Exclusive Claims of Christianity: Understanding Jesus’ Statements about Salvation

Jesus made many absolute statements such as the following:
John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (NIV).
Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Interacting with these statements and based on Chapter 8 of The Beginning of Wisdom and the topic overview, how would you answer someone who is concerned that Christianity portrays that Jesus is the only way to salvation?
