The billing specialist’s actions.

Imagine that a hospital in the United States has recruited a billing specialist who reports to the manager of the billing department. The responsibility of the billing specialist is to ensure compliance with billing policies and procedures. The manager has begun an audit of the department’s adherence to policies and procedures. The audit reveals that the recently recruited billing specialist is not following the standard billing guidelines. In several patient bills, the manager observes billing errors and noncompliance with the hospital’s standard process. After investigation, the manager determines that it is fraudulent billing.

In your initial post, include the following:

Identify the legal and compliance implications of the billing specialist’s actions.
Describe how you believe the manager and hospital should respond to this issue.
Describe the measures the hospital should take to prevent the recurrence of this issue.

Evaluating Research Methods: Data Collection and Analysis

For this assignment, you will evaluate both qualitative and quantitative approaches to your applied research topic and determine the most appropriate method of data collection and analysis for your proposal. Select three qualitative studies and three quantitative studies from your work in developing the literature review portion of your proposal (SEE ATTACHED ESSAY). Provide an overview of the data collection and analysis procedures for each of the studies. Compare and contrast the findings from each and discuss the application of these findings to developing trends related to your research proposal topic. Finally, discuss the most appropriate method and design for data collection and analysis for your own research proposal, including justification and support from scholarly sources. Your paper must be 4-6 pages in length and include each of the following components:

An overview of the data collection and analysis procedures for each of three qualitative and three quantitative studies related to your research proposal topic
An evaluation and comparison of the findings from each of the qualitative studies
An evaluation and comparison of the findings from each of the quantitative studies
An application of the findings from all six studies to the current and developing trends related to your proposal topic
Based on your analysis and evaluation, identify the most appropriate method and design for data collection and analysis for your research proposal, and provide support and justification from both peer-reviewed and methodological sources. Keep in mind that your decision should be based on (a) how best to address the research problem/question, and (b) how best to contribute to current knowledge and trends related to your topic.
Be sure to write in a scholarly and objective tone, avoiding the use of first person, personal pronouns, contractions, and colloquial or conversational language. Use citations from scholarly, peer-reviewed sources throughout to support your content and credit sources of information and ideas.

Big rocks

Big rocks are the important things in life. Illustrating the concept of a typically busy life with rocks and sand, many times we fill our jars to the top with sand and discover that we don’t have room for all the rocks (the important things). So, we have to rethink and rearrange our time and priorities to place our big rocks in the jar. Then we can fit in the sand (and even water) until we have room for everything that is important.

Think about a time when you had so much sand in your jar that you had to leave out an important rock. What was that big rock, and how did you feel about not having it? Discuss your strategy to move things around to get that rock back into your bucket.

Fake news

When we hear the phrase “fake news” we often think of politicians and the media. However, businesses also perpetuate fake news, often unwittingly. LeanSpa, an internet retail business that sold purported weight loss products under various brand names, hired LeadClick to provide online advertising through its affiliate network. Toward that end, certain LeadClick affiliates used fake news sites to market LeanSpa products. These fake news sites looked like genuine news sites in that they had logos styled to look like news sites, and they included pictures of supposed reporters next to their articles. The articles generally represented that a reporter had performed independent tests that demonstrated the efficacy of the weight loss products. The websites also frequently included a Consumer Comment section, where purported consumers praised the products. There were no consumers commenting, however, since this content was invented. See this module’s assigned textbook reading for a synopsis of the LeadClick case.

Based on this case, the module resources, and your own experience, answer these questions:

Who has or should have primary responsibility for managing fake news and its consequences (i.e., social media companies, advertising companies, business, everyday citizens, government authorities, or others)? Why?
Is it unethical for a company to allow its ads to run on a controversial website—such as one that is promoting untested scientific data or one that includes what is commonly accepted as hate speech—even if doing so generates significant revenue for the company? Explain your position.

The concepts of morality and social ethics.

Differentiate the concepts of morality and social ethics.
While using the risk assessment model, what might the decision makers include in their assessment before taking action? Why is this an important step?
What are the consequences of not looking at various perspectives and the interests of other people involved while making a responsible ethical decision?
