A positive attitude

A positive attitude helps you cope more easily with daily life and helps you avoid worry. A positive attitude makes you happier and more successful. With a positive attitude, you see the bright side of life and expect the best. If your attitude is positive enough, it becomes contagious. How will you make sure to bring a positive attitude to the office every day? How will having a positive attitude at work help you professionally?

A Reading Development Paper

You will develop a substantive understanding of six components of reading as a process by creating a Reading Development Paper (3-5 pages long). In this assignment, you will identify, define, and explain each of the six reading components (comprehension, oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary) and their relevance to reading development. Please note that you must do research and have at least 3 references.

Shaking hands

Social interaction can be really weird and it can also be really awkward. For this course, we need to start thinking about our interactions from a cultural perspective. In your discussion board topic, you need to name something about your culture that shapes your interactions. For your response, let’s be a bit more critical. For this assignment, I’d like you to discuss something about human social interactions that is weird and then also discuss how it might be related to culture.
Here is a list of starter topics that might help you:
Shaking hands,
kissing people on the cheek,
a common way that people greet each other that bothers you
Then think about how it relates to culture. For example, a strong handshake was once seen as a sign of masculinity and that carries over to today.

A “Reflection Post”

Submit a “Reflection Post” in relation to the content that has been covered thus far. I am the only one who will see your Reflection Post. This is an opportunity to discuss how what you have learned fit or didn’t fit with what you have learned in the past, or to discuss a topic that peaked your interest that you would like to learn more about. This assignment also give you the opportunity to discuss how the course content relates to your current job or field placement if applicable. Perhaps you are intrigued to work with a certain population? This post is not a summary of what you learned this semester. But about Ethical dilemmas and DSM-5 and what really stood out to you to discuss and relate them back to your personal and professional experiences. There is no particular rubric for the reflection post, it is just an opportunity to you to reflect on what you have learned and how it may (or may not) be useful in your personal life or in your career as a social worker. The ability to be self-reflective is essential to competent social work practice.

A genogram

A genogram is often used to illustrate the behaviors of a family unit across generations. The genogram can be used to reduce resistance to harmful family patterns.

Recall a family with a member who has a history of drug or alcohol dependence.
Describe how the genogram can be used to address the denial of family unit addiction to individual family members.
