The Importance of Palliative Care in End-of-Life Issues

Your proposal should be approximately 500-600 words and include all of the 7 points listed below.
1. A paragraph that describes your topic. What do you plan to address? Why is it important? Be sure to define any key terms. Include citations as appropriate.

These include: anthropology, communication, community health, economics, geography, gerontology, political science, psychology, social psychology, or sociology. (If you would like to use another discipline — for example, criminology, please check with me; it’s most likely to be fine.) Explain the general approach of this discipline and include a citation.

4. Identify one resource from our course that you plan to include in your project and why it’s relevant.
5. Identify one organization that is relevant to your topic, and include the website URL. Explain why this organization is relevant to your topic.

Bridging the Gap: Indigenous Philosophy and Western Science in Braiding Sweetgrass

What are some examples from the book(Braiding Sweetgrass) that highlight the difference between Indigenous Philosophy and Western Science with respect to the natural vs. the supernatural worlds?
A long-standing difference in the worldview of Europeans, and those living in European settler societies, and the worldviews of Native Americans is that Native Americans traditionally viewed (and still view today) what most members of Western Industrialized societies would call the natural and supernatural worlds as one inseparable reality. In this essay you will write about this difference in worldview relying primarily on Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass. Other course material may be integrated into your response but you must rely primarily on the Kimmerer book. How does Kimmerer acknowledge this difference and what are some examples from the book of this difference in worldview? Please limit your use of direct quotes. Rephrase things in your own words instead of quoting directly from the book except for one or two short quotes to support your discussion.

The Relationship between Ethnic Stratification and Privilege

Examine the concepts of race and ethnicity and consider the relationship between ethnic stratification and privilege.
• In the introduction to their book Seeing White: An Introduction to White Privilege and Race, Halley, Eshleman & Vijaya (2010) argue that “Often whites simply perceive themselves as ‘normal’ or ‘just human’ and fail to notice their own race” (p. 4). What do you interpret this statement? How does this relate to the idea that race is socially and culturally constructed?
• Review the Pew Research Center’s (2020) report Amid National Reckoning, Americans Divided on Whether Increased Focus on Race Will Lead to Major Policy Change. Why do you think the different groups discussed in the article have different views of the progress that has been made on equality? Which group do you most closely agree with? Why? How do the groups that you’re part of influence your perspective here? Is this an area where you might have a single story?
