Covert vs. Clandestine Operations: Analyzing Their Impact on National Security Interests

Write an 8-page research paper about covert versus clandestine operations and which tends to be more beneficial to national security interests.
It may be beneficial to recommend when a covert operation would be more effective than a clandestine operation.

Cyber Security

Discuss your experience and knowledge in building a detailed understanding of cyber data, data flows, and processes within an organization? How have you utilized this knowledge to support analytics initiatives or address cyber-related challenges?

Social Security Act, Economic Opportunity Act

For each policy (Social Security Act, Economic Opportunity Act, Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act), briefly:

Explain how the policy is addressed at the federal, state, and local level.
What programs were developed from this policy?
Reflect on how the policy affects or may affect your community, geographic area, or potential clients.
Then, address this unique prompt for this week’s Quick Guide:

Identify one opportunity for change for one of the policies.

Caring for People Who Are Underserved – Food Insecurity

Imagine you are a community health nurse assigned to care for a person who was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. JK is a 66-year-old Black woman with hypertension and asthma. JK lives in a food desert and does not drive. JK’s family visits her weekly/on weekends only, but they have complicated lives and are unable to provide daily care for her. She does not have uber or lyft services, she must take public transportation to her appointments and shopping needs.

For this assessment, imagine that JK lives in your zip code.

Evaluate the following community health resources and summarize them in a table:
o United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
o Food Access Research Atlas
o Food Access Research Atlas Map
o Characteristics and Influential Factors of Food Deserts
o Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
o A Systematic Review of Food Deserts, 1966-2007
o Small Food Stores and Availability of Nutritious Foods
o Data & Statistics

Create a plan in which you detail opportunities for JK to gain adequate access to appropriate foods for 1 week in your zip code.

Your plan must address:
o Appropriate and realistic estimated budget
o Shopping locations, including food banks
o Transportation means, routes, and timing
o Support services

Create a 10-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with speaker notes. Include the table summarizing the community health resources and the plan for JK.

Part 2: Clinical Activities: Caring for People Who Are Underserved – Food Insecurity (4 Direct Care Clinical Hours)
Working with your chosen family, select an individual who has 1 or more chronic health issues (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease). If no one in your chosen family meets these criteria, work with a community agency.

With your individual and family, create a meal plan in which you detail opportunities for this individual (and family) to gain adequate access to appropriate, affordable food for 1 week.

You have recently graduated from UTSC and you wish to increase your chances of being employed in a big organization that values good opinions, research, facts, current topics and good writing. Your career advisor suggests that you write a 400-word Op-ed for a national Canadian newspaper. When you contacted the editor of your chosen newspaper, you learned that 5 years earlier, she took GGRC25 with Prof. Kepe. She encourages you to consider writing on the topic relating to that course. The editor goes on to suggest that you skillfully write on an issue that combines several key words into a powerful editorial opinion that could be of interest to Canadians and other readers overseas, where the newspaper stories are syndicated.
While you are free to write on a topic of your choice, your key words are: Land, Development, Food Security, the State, Decolonization, Violence. All these key words must appear in the op-ed, but not as mere mentions, but as key parts of your flowing argument. They must be connected, not in any particular order, to make a solid argument that shows your knowledge of the subject. This cannot be a random topic. I must be absolutely based on the core lessons from GGRC25.

Ensure that your Op-Ed is accessible and has flow. This means that your argument should be easy to follow. It should be educational. It should be clear why any of your points are made. Your points must relate to each other, in terms of being building blocks of a point your want to drive across. Your Op-Ed must tell a ‘story’ that makes sense, using what you have learned in GGRC25.
Think carefully about how you introduce and conclude your Op-Ed.
Provide your Op-Ed with a catchy title, which should match your key argument.
Op-Eds are usually not referenced; so do not put in-text citations, but list full reference information of a minimum of five (5) journal articles or book chapters that informed the Op-Ed. This may include sources prescribed for GGRC25 or those from elsewhere. List them in full under the heading: Sources consulted. Class slides should not be listed. The list of references do not count in the word limit. But, just do not cut and paste or take huge chunks from the slides or readings.

SECURITY POLICY & STANDARTS

Discuss the following questions:

“You arrive at work on Monday morning to discover that your computer is not working properly. It stops responding and restarts every few minutes. Unexpectedly, you see unusual error messages popping up and hear some strange sounds from the speakers.”

After reading this scenario, answer the following questions:

1.What is the first possible diagnosis that comes to your mind?

2.What is the first step you would take in this situation?

3.What is the second step that you would take in this situation?

4.Please start a thread and respond to your colleagues at-least twice.

Ugly facts about cybersecurity

You remembered some ugly facts about cybersecurity last week. Now, let’s start reviewing fundamental security practices for ourselves. Watch the following talk:
• Security Awareness for YouLinks to an external site. by Jason Callahan

Post a 3- to 4-paragraph (375 to 500 words) discussion and reflection on the topics.
• Consider this to be a mini “reflection paper” per most of your other course work. Talk about what was interesting, difficult, or surprising in what you read. Note any “ah-ha!” moments.
• Find a current news article or journal article that highlights the topics for the month. Summarize the article’s main points, and connect them to the material you read/watched in the resources of the current module. Suggested resource to use for this assignment: NewsbankLinks to an external site.
• Connect the topics from the above resources back into prior coursework you have taken at Franklin or other institutions. Talk about where you first encountered the topics or concepts and whether or not this exposure to them enhanced or solidified your understanding.
