Research Analysis

. The five required components are:
1. Identification of the specific issue that you’re researching (e.g. overcrowding of prisons leading to avoidable health complications and economic burden) 2. Research question(s) 3. Working Thesis, which should use sources to attempt to answer the Research question(s) 4. Roadmap of Research Paper’s structure (i.e. What issue are you writing about? How will you address it? What are some aspects you might cover or directions you might go in your paper? Etc.) 5. Works Cited with at least five sources (3 must be scholarly)

Using animals in medical research

Should animals be used in medical research? In your response, consider which kind of animals (if any) would be morally permissible to use in medical research and what consideration should be given regarding pain.

You must apply at least three ethical theories to support your position and explain how each of the different theories compares when applied to this issue.

You must also show how your position supported by ethical theories is stronger than another position supported by another theories.

It is not enough to name a theories; you must explain the theories and demonstrate how your position reflects the logic and reasoning of that theories.

Psychology Research

You are a research psychologist and have initiated a research study to assess how couples relate and communicate with each other in both mundane and
conflict situations. For this study, you have opted to create a natural “home” setting at the research laboratory.
In approach to this scenario, prepare a brief paper that evaluates the following:
Explain how you might design the “home” setting. What considerations would you make in developing the environment? Be sure to explain and support your
answer.
Determine if this is a natural or contrived research setting. Be sure to explain and support your answer.
Determine how you might operationalize observations. Be sure to explain and support your answer. *Hint: Refer to behavioral categories and ways in which
observations may be quantified.
Explain how you might design the setting to facilitate unobtrusive observations.
Interpret how observations could potentially be intrusive in this study. Explain the role intrusiveness would have on the setting and potential results.
Support your assignment with at least one scholarly resource. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including
seminal articles, may be included.

Integrating Research and Practice

Students will examine their roles as research-practitioners and consumers.
This assignment will focus on the following aspects:

-The importance of becoming a research-practitioner
– The importance of becoming a research consumer
– The benefits of research-informed practice and practice-informed research.

For this paper you need to select a problem from your practice experience. You will then develop a plan of how to use research to enhance your knowledge of the specific problem. For example: A student has difficulty managing a high caseload. In order to address their problem the student will research how social workers addressed the problem. By using current research (reading research reports, journal articles or conference proceedings) the study is able to come up with a solution to the problem.

Description of the preliminary steps in the research process

Write 1-2 page APA formatted paper which includes:

Description of the preliminary steps in the research process, including searching literature, identifying theoretical frameworks, and developing questions and hypotheses
Although you should read and use information from several professional resources which are cited and referenced, the description should be a summary in your own words and NOT quotes from those sources.

Collecting numerical data.

Determine a potential study you might want to conduct in which you would need to collect numerical data. This can be related to the studies you identified in Week 1 or a completely new topic. The benefits of using the topics you examined in Week 1 and Week 2 are that you have a database of references to work from now. But if you have decided or prefer to work with a different topic, that is fine. Draft a quantitative research design plan to address the following:

State the research problem. Support it with five scholarly resources.
Explain how you could use quantitative methodology to address your research problem. Specifically, identify and discuss a design that is associated with quantitative methodology that you would consider to answer your research questions.
State the purpose of the research effort. Make sure the purpose is aligned with the problem.
List one or more quantitative research questions that would be appropriate for a quantitative study. Make sure your research questions are aligned with your research problem and your purpose statement.
State a hypothesis.
Discuss and justify your sample and population.
Explain how you would recruit participants.
Length: 5-7 pages, not including title and reference pages

Evaluation of a Research Paper

Assigned article:
Jozaghi,E.and Andresen, MA. (2013). Should North America’s first and only supervised
injection facility (InSite) be expanded in British Columbia, Canada? Harm Reduction
Journal,10(1).
https://doi.org/10.1186/1477-7517-10-1
Develop and construct a review paper in response to the above assigned article by
incorporating the following requirements:
o Identify what type of research paradigm is presented in the research article.
o Describe SIX key characteristics of this article that illustrate the type of
research paradigm that you selected in the above point. Each characteristic
should be supported by specific information taken from the research article.
Simply listing characteristics from the lecture notes is not sufficient.
o Discuss how the choice of research paradigm used in this research article
contributes to the overall quality of this study by describing THREE ways in
which the study design or findings were strengthened or enhanced by the choice
of research paradigm. Your answer should include specific examples from the
given research article.
o Discuss FOUR themes associated with safe injection facilities that emerged
from this study. Clearly explain these themes and include examples from the
article to support your points.
o Aside from opening more supervised injection facilities, provide TWO practical
applications of this study’s findings and clearly identify the organization/s that
may be responsible for implementing each application.
o Briefly describe how this study’s findings have altered your knowledge of
supervised injection facilities.
