The conclusion of World War II

The conclusion of World War II left much uncertainty as to Europe’s political future and military balance of power. England’s wartime savior, Winston Churchill, offered his vision as one who had been among the first to perceive the full danger posed by the rise of National Socialism in the 1930s.
Read Churchill’s Iron Curtain speech and think about the emergence of the Cold War. Consider the circumstances, be they economic, political, or military, that helped shape this international rivalry.
Write an essay in which you summarize the meaning of Churchill’s Iron Curtain speech and explain its historical significance. Use evidence in your essay to support your ideas. One Page

General Research Idea

Mischel (1972) examined the relationship between delayed gratification as a child and variables related to success (i.e., future SAT scores, and higher competence). From this general research idea, outline the following:

A logical hypothesis that identifies two variables (you can choose which variables you would focus on from the example)
An appropriate research strategy
An appropriate research design
The threats to validity and how they will be addressed
The interpretation of data and conclusions you will be able to draw (Be precise – are you looking at mean differences? Correlations between variables? Can you infer causation?)

Examining a topic regarding pharmacology research.

You are to write a paper examining a topic regarding pharmacology research. The research may be basic science, translational, clinical, or a combination. Your paper should include references to empirical data and should not simply be a review of current clinical use, mechanism of action, or past history of a drug or class of drugs. You MUST write on one of the paper topics below.
Your goal is to demonstrate that you have a working understanding of the pharmacological information presented in this course and that you are able to apply that understanding to new material.
Success in communicating scientific knowledge is dependent on not only the quality of the scientific content, but also your ability to coherently put your thoughts into words and the technical aspects of spelling and grammar. With this in mind, your grade will be based on all of these aspects. With that said, scientific writing should be succinct and to the point. It should not be flowery and verbose.
