Shortcomings associated with rational, incremental, and crisis

Historically, bureaucracies have used rational, incremental, and crisis designs for problem solving. Drawing on the work of Jun and others, write an essay that addresses the questions below.
You may apply your theoretical arguments to the practice of public administration by drawing on your professional experiences and utilizing related examples and illustrations (including from health care, if that is your option) to support your response.
Part One: What, in your view, are some shortcomings associated with each of the following three designs: rational, incremental, and crisis? Provide two (2) examples of how social design, as advocated by Jun, alleviates problems with rational, incremental, and crisis designs.
Part Two: How can we come to a common understanding of reality, which includes a shared view of a problem and that considers social learning, plurality of values, and dialogue?
Part Three: What are two (2) limitations of the social design approach? How do these limitations pose a challenge to agencies implementing this administrative design?

Management Advancement Plan (MAP)

The Management Advancement Plan is your personal strategic plan that “MAPs” where you presently are in professional knowledge and skills, where you want to go in ten years, and how you plan to get there. This assignment is a rare opportunity for you to reflect upon your life and career in public service. Your MAP should be typed in 12-point font, double-spaced, about 5 pages, and organized in the following sections:
Ten-Year Vision. Explain your professional goals. While you do not need to know exactly what you will be doing in ten years, you should be able to reflect on the elements of a career that are most appealing to you. What do you think you want to be doing ten years from now? Why do you want to do this? What would you be able to do if you had this job? What does this job mean to you? What rewards do you see yourself deriving from this job? What professional and/or personal disadvantages and obstacles do you expect to encounter in gaining and holding this job?

Employee Job Satisfaction

Design at least five survey questions to evaluate government employees’ job satisfaction. At a minimum, you should achieve the following objectives:

  1. Include all types of questions introduced in class (i.e., open-ended questions, Likert-type questions, grouped data questions, single and multiple response questions, and continuous data questions). Specify each question with answers in detail.
  2. Put all questions into a logical order and explain why.
  3. Evaluate the question wording. Justify why your wording is reasonable.
  4. Explain how your survey questions can capture government employees’ job satisfaction.
  5. Discuss the pros and cons of your survey design.
Don’t reinvent the wheel. It is better to refer to journal articles or other credible sources for sample questions. Try to search “government employees’ job satisfaction” on Google Scholar.
Write an essay in 600 words to organize everything together. Use scholar sources.

Example of a program evaluation study

First Page:
Find an example of a program evaluation study published in an academic journal. Briefly describe what the key variables are, how they were operationally
defined, and how the program’s success was measured. Submit your findings via email in a one-page (double-spaced) Word document.
Second Page:
Part 1. Create an operational definition for each of the following concepts:
A. Economic Prosperity
B. Family Violence
C. Consumer Cultures
D. Mental Health
Part II. Researchers have found a consistent relationship between schools and crimes. More crimes occur in neighborhoods surrounding high schools and
junior high schools than in neighborhoods far away from schools. The researchers conclude that schools cause crime and believe that this relationship may
have something to do with teachers not teaching students the appropriate lessons in the classroom. By these data, do you find this argument compelling?
Why or why not? If not, what could explain this relationship?
Part III. The U.S Department of Justice has found that of the children killed by their parents, 55% of the murders were performed by the child’s mother and the
child’s father performed 45% of the murders. A researcher uses these data to support his contention that women are more violent than men. By these data,
do you find this argument compelling? Why or why not? If not, what could explain this relationship?
