Based on the links provided, what are a few examples where Social Justice in Preservation is needed?
How do National and State Preservation Organizations, along with their entities, promote social justice through their missions/visions? If some do not, how can they promote social justice?
in Andrea Robert’s article, summarize her perspective on preservation and Intersectionality. Utilizing the “For the Culture” segments in the slides, how is that illustrated?
Comparing Andrea Robert’s article with Dr. Daniel’s presentation from this past Tuesday, what are some ways that Intersectionality overlaps with his experiences and themes of Social Justice? Where do they differ?

The historical processes that led to Black Lives Matter.

Throughout the course, we have examined that the African American communities have changed drastically as more Americans have become aware of the injustices faced by millions of people of color. Analyzing African American history, examine the historical processes that led to Black Lives Matters.

The Civil Rights Movement

Using the Internet, locate and read Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech given in Washington D.C., August 1963. Copy and paste the following keywords into your Google search bar: “I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King, Jr.” Feel free also to locate and incorporate additional scholarly sources to respond to this case study, including information on the Civil Rights Movement.

Construct the case study by responding to the following prompts:

Explain if the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s effectively changed the nation.
What effect would the Civil Rights Acts have across the continent on minority groups?
Do you think that the tactics and strategies that civil rights activists used in the 1960s would apply to today’s racial and ethnic conflicts? Why or why not?
Do the ideas of the 1960s still have relevance today? If so how? If not, why not?
Analyze how the Civil Rights Movement would impact diversity in America today.

Feminist Protests Of The 1960’S

There were a lot of feminist protests in the 1960’s, but one that was very important was the Miss America Pageant of 1968. The Miss America protest was a demonstration held at the Miss America contest in Atlantic City. What exactly happened? When? Why did this happen? Where did this happen? Who was involved? What were the results? You can also talk about other feminist protests that happened in the 1960’s (specifically) as well, but definitely go more into detail about the Miss America Pageant.

The impact of Martin Luther and John Calvin

What was the impact of Martin Luther and John Calvin? How did the Reformation of Protestantism Challenge the Roman Catholic Church and the hierarchy of Europe’s elite? How did this impact the decisions by early puritans to venture out and away from the Anglican Church (which was viewed as still imitating Catholicism) to North America and begin a new chapter in human civilization?

Problems with the politics is people’s ignorance

Part I: One of the main problems with the politics is people’s ignorance about the political process and knowledge of elected officials. Ask your interviewees the following questions:
1. When is Election Day?
2. Who are your US Senators?
3. Name one US Representative from your state.
4. Who is the Governor of your state and what is his or her party affiliation?
5. Who is the mayor in your city, town or township?
6. As a whole, what color is your state (red=Republican, blue=Democrat)?
7. How many electoral votes does your state have?
Part II: Finally, political contests are determined by the candidates’ position on the issues. Answer the following questions for yourself: What do you believe are the three most important issues facing the United State currently? What are the general positions of the major political parties (Democrat and Republican) concerning the three issues you identified?
Part III: Write up your findings and connect your data to the textbook material.

Components of religion

Attend a religious service of a group that is entirely new to you. Take notes if you can during the service
or immediately afterwards of your experience. Afterwards, use your notes to blog about the following components of religion:
ritual, beliefs, and the sacred. How is religion a unique institution in society? Respond to this question using both your
experience and the textbook material.

Think about the media segment featuring Julie Olsen Edwards. As you think about the words of encouragement and messages of hope that she offers, what resonates the most with you? Why?-see the attached transcript of the video.
See the attachment of my two professional goals you established. Reflect on these goals in light of what you have learned during this course and so far in this specialization, also bearing in mind your professional and personal growth during this time.
Consider the following:

A description of an idea or message from this week’s media segment that evokes special meaning for you. Include an explanation of its significance.
A summary of your modified professional goals related to anti-bias work. Now, consider how you might revise, refine, modify, and/or extend these goals to further target your future growth and development and that of the children and families with whom you work or will work. Provide a rationale for the changes or adjustments you have made to the originals goals. As appropriate, include references to ideas or insights gained .
