Analyzing a surface cargo system.

The air cargo system consists of everything related to air cargo and the air cargo industry: aircraft, aircraft roller and locking systems, terminals, ground handling equipment, personnel, documentation, and regulations. You are to analyze a surface cargo system.

Note: Please number and state each requirement, and give each answer its own separate paragraph(s).

Provide a brief synopsis of the Surface Cargo System you picked.
Compare the Air Cargo System components to your Surface Cargo System components.
Describe in detail similar components and different components.
Consider the management concerns of incorporating intermodal operations between the two systems.

Lead Investigation

The services required include project oversight, and air sampling, and surface
sample to provide final clearance at the completion of the project. There is planned
for renovation activities that will impact lead-based paint (LBP) identified in the
elevator shaft as part of a larger elevator modernization project
Below is the proposed scope of work:
Scope of Work:
An industrial hygienist (IH) in training working under the direction of a CIH will
conduct an assessment of the space. The site visit and sampling will be
conducted in the following location:
IIT Mystery Building
Provide onsite oversight during the removal of the lead-based paint. Utilize air
sampling equipment to measure quantities of lead in the work area.
Upon completion of the project, take surface samples to validate that the project
team has successfully cleaned up the work area and it is ready for re-occupancy.
The clearance criterion for this project was ≤200 µg/ft 2
for cleaned surfaces. If
surfaces are above that, additional cleaning should take place prior to re-sampling.
As a final step to assist with disposal of the generated waste, one sample from
each waste drum (five samples total) will be collected from the onsite waste
barrels and submitted for Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) lead
analysis by USEPA Method 1311/6010B.
Following receipt of the analytical results, a report will be generated. The report
shall include at a minimum:
• Executive summary
• Background description of the project and work activities.
• A list of equipment used for sampling including the types of sampling
devices, flow rate of pumps, duration of sampling, calibration information,
and any other pertinent details related to the sampling procedure.
• Interpretation of all data from the analytical report of air and surface
sampling with relation to any regulatory standards, consensus standards or
recommended standards.
Lead Investigation 1
• Recommendations that detail any protective equipment that the workers
should be wearing during the project based on data, and if the project has
been cleared for re-occupancy.
• Analysis of waste data to determine if it needs to be disposed of as hazardous
waste
