Codes of Ethics

Review the ACA and AMHCA codes of ethics and identify and cite two codes that need to be considered for the specified client you selected for your Unit 3 and 6 assignments, looking closely at the beginning, middle, and closing phases of treatment. Why are these codes important for this client?
Examine, identify, and cite an applicable law that should be considered while working with the client. Make sure to reference specific ethical codes and state laws.

Current behavior therapy

a. An increasing emphasis in current behavior therapy is on teaching clients self-control procedures and self-management skills. The assumption is that
learning coping skills can increase the range of self-directed behavior. What are the possibilities of behavior therapy as you see them, for enhancing a client’s
choosing, planning, and self-direction?
b. The text deals with five common criticisms and misconceptions regarding behavior therapy. What are your criticisms, if any, of behavior therapy?
a) Control theory is based on the premise that although outside events influence us, we are not determined by them. To what degree do you agree with the
assumption that our actions, thoughts, and emotions, are the product of our choices? What are the implications for counseling practice of the way you
answer this question.
b) Although reality therapists do not ignore dealing with feelings, they certainly do no encourage clients to focus on feelings as if they were separate from
actions and thoughts. What is your reaction to this tactic.

Documenting Progress in Therapy

Select a character from a movie or TV series who is dealing with various life stressors. The character you pick will serve as your theoretical “client” of interest
and should be someone you think will benefit from the help of a therapist.
Provide a detailed descriiption of your client’s background and explain why they may be seeking your help. You will base your client’s background information
and progress evaluation on this individual’s character as reflected in the movie or TV series you have selected. Be sure to provide specific details about their
life circumstances, social location, social interactions, relationships, and the environment they find themselves in.
Propose which theoretical approach, techniques, and interventions you would like to use while working with your client (providing details surrounding your
approach). In addition, briefly discuss and analyze the importance of understanding oneself in family therapy and how your values, personality, reaction
patterns, interpersonal styles, and limitations may affect your therapeutic relationship with this particular client.
Explain what you might include in a hypothetical progress note to demonstrate your effectiveness with your client (depending on how you imagine your
therapy sessions will go). For example, you can incorporate some of the elements found in data, assessment, and plan (DAP) notes or subjective, objective,
assessment, and plan (SOAP) notes into the outline of your finalized progress notes, along with any crisis issues or potential client responses to therapy. You
can also identify any specific evaluations, measures, or scales that will help you evaluate progress in therapy. For discussion board purposes, you do not
need to fill out a progress note form. However, you can use the form provided to guide your own client’s progress notes.

Masterpiece or Classic Humanities Research Project

Humanities explores expressions and thoughts. All of us have questions and seek answers through various means. By questioning, we often use logic to develop our thoughts and to become critical thinkers. The Art of Being Human textbook covers a wide range of genres, disciplines, and themes related to life (being human). For the research project, you have the option to choose from three of those genres covered in the text. Assignment Guidelines: Using Microsoft Office PowerPoint, create a slide presentation using the textbook definition of a Classic or a Masterpiece (found in Chapter 4: Literature). Select a film, tv show, or a song that you consider a Masterpiece or a Classic and illustrate three research-based reasons why it fits that particular definition. See the steps to completing this assignment below.
1. Choose a film, tv show, or song. This can be the same topic as your Film Analysis Assignment, but be careful not to just repeat yourself in this project. The Film Analysis Assignment and this Research Project are looking at different aspects of these works.
Once you have chosen, review your film, tv show, or song as needed.
2. Start your PowerPoint slides and begin your research. Be sure to use the following
outline for your slides:
• Slide 1—Title Slide—Include an MLA heading with Humanities Final Project
centered as the title and your full name. Feel free to include any additional
elements related to your film, tv show, or song for added creativity.
• Slide 2—Introductory Slide—Write a summary about your film, tv show, or song.
Include answers to who, what, when, where, why, and how to give the reader
enough background information about it. Include a link or embed a clip to
illustrate a sample of your chosen film, tv show, or song. Your summary should
be at least 3-5 sentences.
• Slides 3, 4, 5—Explain reasons using research from outside sources to support
your reasoning for it being a Masterpiece or a Classic. This means MLA citations
will be needed for any quoted material included and a Works Cited slide listing
all sources used. Label these slides as follows: Reason 1, Reason 2, Reason 3.
Each of these three slides should contain a paragraph of at least 5 sentences.
• Slide 6—Explanation Slide—What is your connection to the piece and why did
you select this particular film, tv show, or song? Your explanation should be at
least 3-5 sentences.
• Slide 7—Use Works Cited as the title for the last slide. A minimum of 2 outside
sources using the proper MLA format should be listed on the Works Cited slide.
3. After you have set up your slides, do your research to find at least two academic sources (scholarly journal articles and books) to support your reasoning on Slides 3, 4, and 5; the course textbook can be one of these sources. Students can also use the college Library or Galileo to do this research; Wikipedia is not an appropriate source for this
assignment. NOTE: You can have more than two academic sources, but you must have at least two to be eligible for full credit. If you are having difficulty finding sources or
determining if they would be acceptable for this project, email me or refer to the
resources in the Research Project folder on Blackboard.
4. Organize your seven PowerPoint slides, adhering to the outline in Step 2 of these
directions.
5. Add in-text citation on the slides using information from your academic sources and list all sources in MLA format on your Works Cited slide at the end. Use the MLA resources linked in the Research Project folder on Blackboard to review MLA citation format.
6. Read over your Research Project and fix any spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Make sure the information on your slides fully covers all requirements for this project and demonstrates research, critical thinking, and creativity. PowerPoint files should be saved and submitted as a .ppt, .pptx, or .pdf file.
