(a) Do you believe the Engineers Australia code satisfies the general requirements for a professional (lawyers, dentist, etc) code of ethics ? Explain your reasons.
(b) Find the code of ethics of any other professional engineering body in the world. (You may be a member of a different body yourself.) Explain who this code belongs to. Discuss the similarities and differences between the code you chose and the code of Engineers Australia.

Four ethical approaches

Think of an ethical issue you have been a part of, either personally or professionally, such as nepotism, a data breach, inappropriate social media posts, or harassment/discrimination. Next, pick one ethical approach (Utilitarian, Deontological, Virtue, or Communitarian) and explain how you will use this approach to remedy the issue. Do not forget to describe the ethical issue.
Follow the steps below to complete your assessment. For all of these steps, make sure you provide examples and information from credible sources that will support your writing:
Step 1: Compare and contrast the four ethical approaches.
Step 2: Analyze the reasoning process behind an ethical decision.
Step 3: Analyze ethical decision-making principles and actions.
Step 4: Analyze cultural and environmental influences on ethical decision-making.
Step 5: Evaluate a personal decision based on ethical decision-making principles.

Ethics of Self-Care

Management of self-care includes preventive measures important for avoiding burnout or compassion fatigue. Helpers can struggle with keeping a balance between care for others and care for themselves. Review Exercise 14.2, the Self-Care Worksheet, in your textbook.

In your initial post, discuss one of the items in each domain (physical health, social connections, psychological domain, affective domain, inner life, professional domain) that you engage in regularly and explain how that activity helps you maintain balance in your professional and personal life.

An ethical dilemma

An ethical dilemma is a complex situation in which ethical principles or values are in conflict. When faced with an ethical dilemma, it is not always clear what is right and what is wrong. Ethical dilemmas require us to use ethical decision making, which means we must decide the best course of action even when there is not one clear, right, or ethical choice.

Remember Lena’s ethical dilemma when she was deciding between a new car or spending time with family? Another classic example of an ethical dilemma is the “Trolley Problem.” Check it out!
