The Quentin Tarantino movie is a character study of individuals mixed-up in a criminal enterprise. As law enforcement closes in, the characters are forced out of desperation to use their wits and make rhetorical moves, purposeful appeals — only the Aristotleian best survive. It is up to you to explain the effectiveness of these moves, where it gets them, and why. Focus on one character’s purpose. What is their ultimate goal? Do they achieve it? Why or why not? So much of rhetoric depends on knowing your audience. Use the rhetorical triangle and specific examples of the appeals to break down the effect they have.
