The range of contemporary issues

Research the range of contemporary issues teenagers face today. In a 500-750-word paper, choose one issue (besides teen pregnancy) and discuss its effect on adolescent behavior and overall well-being. Include the following in your submission:

Describe the contemporary issue and explain what external stressors are associated with this issue.
Outline assessment strategies to screen for this issue and external stressors during an assessment for an adolescent patient. Describe what additional assessment questions you would need to ask and define the ethical parameters regarding what you can and cannot share with the parent or guardian.
Discuss support options for adolescents encountering external stressors. Include specific support options for the contemporary issue you presented.

Working in the acute care setting in the past,

Respond to the discussion below with citation and references.

Working in the acute care setting in the past, acute care is the direction I look to take in my Practitioner career. Emergency situations and on the feet, thinking has kept my passion for acute care alive and well. One of the largest challenges of acute nursing comes down to the ability of identifying a problem before it worsens. Patients are arriving in an acute setting unstable, and it is our job to identify, address and act on the issue (Newcombe et al., 2021). Majority of providers prefer to work closely with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants because of the close patient interaction they have daily in addition to the bed-side experience (Kleinpell et al., 2013).

Although such a broad specialty due to the vast avenues acute care can lead to, finding a peer-reviewed article can sometimes prove to be challenging. Because the internet is a very opinionated medium of expression, it becomes challenging to decipher at times between one’s subjective article versus another peer-reviewed objective article with research and facts to validate it. My typical first stop when it comes to searching for peer reviewed articles is the National Library of Medicine. This database has tremendously helped me locate reputable peer-reviewed articles related to most topics in medicine. Because this is a governmental database, the sheer volume of research and articles are vast therefore I believe this would be very helpful to my fellow classmates and colleagues because it touches almost all areas of specialty. Highly recommend this database in conjunction with the library resources Walden University provides as this allows for a nice contrast of information available.

Economic Data

Read Hughes-Cromwick & Coronado’s (2019) article on the value of economic data on business decisions. Summarize the findings of the article and locate additional peer reviewed articles that provide industry examples of the value of economic data in their specific decisions.

Provide a summary and include a minimum of five new peer reviewed journal articles.

Discussion Assignment Instructions
Provide a 600 to 800-word summary (formatted according to APA guidelines) of the new research in this area from a minimum of five new peer reviewed journal articles and identify questions that need exploring in future research.

Your discussion should be organized in a three-paragraph format:

Introductory Paragraph: gives an overview and definition of the topic you chose. At the end of the paragraph it gives an idea of how your forum is organized.

Current Trends Paragraph: In this paragraph, you will discuss the themes that you found in the research from the 5 articles related to your topic. This paragraph should be a synthesis of the research and not just a listing of annotated summaries.

Mitigation

Based on the reading assignment, lectures, and perhaps life experience, discuss the following elements:

What is mitigation with regards to emergency planning?
Identify and describe some of the strategies and programs available to mitigate disasters in the United States.
Are these strategies always successful?
What are some of the impediments to mitigation and how might we address these?
Support your response with specific sources and examples.

Mandatory spending

If more than 60 percent of the federal budget is “mandatory spending,” what is left to cut? What economic goals do categories of mandatory spending support? What programs should be abolished or cut? Should any programs be expanded? If so, identify which ones and explain why they should be expanded.ief agencies such as the Red Cross?

Conceptual models to analyze how external factors affect the supply and demand curves

Analyze how external factors affect the supply and demand curves. Select one of the following cases. Analyze the impact of these events on the markets, on the supply and demand curves, and consequently, prices and volumes:

Technological improvements related to cellphones.
The impact of the pandemic on the supply chain.
The impact of the war in Ukraine on commodities such as oil and grain.
The impact of raising taxes on tobacco.
Technological changes related to electric vehicles versus traditional cars in the car markets.
Increases in interest rates of mortgage loans on the real estate market.
You must explain how the supply and demand curves are affected: do they shift to the right or left? Do they change their slope? What happens with the new equilibrium prices and sales volumes? Do they affect the elasticity of the demand or supply? In the short term, did the curve shift or was there only slippage on that curve? If the curve shifted, did it shift to the right or to the left? As it shifted, was there a shortage or excess in quantities demanded/supplied? As a result, what happened to the equilibrium price? To the equilibrium quantity? Finally, you should copy the supply and demand model scenario that best illustrates your answers.
You should also explain your projections in the long run. What will happen in the long run with equilibrium prices and quantities? Explain why. In this section, you should also choose and copy the supply and demand model scenario that best illustrates your answers.

The benefits, concerns, and challenges of a systems approach offer the practice scholar

Describe the selected problem from two of the three systems levels (micro-, meso-, and macro).
Explain how the outcomes of one system-level effect the other level?
How are the systems approach beneficial in improving healthcare quality and safety?

Motivation

You are a new graduate RN on a medical-surgical unit. During the past three months several changes regarding compensation and staff schedules have occurred. Night shift differential has been reduced and nurses are being asked to work predetermined schedules that reflect the census and acuity of the unit. Many of the nurses on the unit have been verbal about their dissatisfaction with these changes and are talking about transferring to another hospital in the area. You notice the staff is lacking the energy and motivation previously characteristic of the unit and you are wondering if this is the right place for you.

Our book provides a number of suggestions as to how managers and leaders can “create a motivating climate.” (Pages 478-485)

Which of these strategies do you believe has the greatest impact on the behavior of nurses?
Which strategy do you think would be most effective in the situation described above?
What behaviors would you exhibit as a new RN on the unit to promote a “motivating climate?”
