Investigate professional journals and locate two articles relevant to issues in the United States and that pertain to organizational behavior topics from this course that interest you. You are to critique each article according to the instructions below. The articles should be less than three-years-old. You are to use the ProQuest Central database found in the University of Arizona Global Campus Library.
Identify the articles
Provide the reader with enough information about your articles so they will be able to locate the article. Describe your search process.
Summarize the articles
Identify the main points that the authors have tried to establish (i.e., 1, 2, 3, or first, second, third). There normally will be three to five main points per article. If you are summarizing a court case, you should discuss the following:
What provision of the law was at issue? Briefly state the facts of the case.
What legal tests were applied?
Were there any unusual elements in the case?
Provide sufficient information to demonstrate you understand the content of the article.
Critique the article
Provide your reaction (insightful, critical, and logical) to the points that the authors tried to make or an overall critique of the entire articles. A simple statement of agreement or disagreement is not sufficient. While you may make such a statement by way of introduction to your reaction, you must clearly and logically state the reasons for your position. You may also find the Writing Center’s resource Writing an Article Critique Links to an external site..
Consider the following set of propositions: (1) “Linda remembers receiving an autograph from Muhammad Ali.” (2) “Linda does not remember receiving an autograph from Cassius Clay.” • Do these propositions contain any reference to propositional attitudes? If so, which? • Do these propositions attribute any properties to objects? If so, which objects? • What conclusion, if any, can you derive from these two propositions? (Does it follow that Muhammad Ali and Cassius Clay are different people?
6. Descartes says that he can conceive of himself being a disembodied spirit (that is, having a mind but not a body). What does conceiving of something mean? Does Descartes’ claim entail that it is possible for him to be a disembodied spirit? (See discussion of conceivability and possibility in Chapter 8.)
7. Is a statue identical with the stone it is made of? Is an organism identical with the collection of cells in its body? Can Leibniz’s Law be used to show that either of these claims of identity is false?
8. In the Sixth Meditation, Descartes argues that he is essentially a thinking thing. An essential property of a thing is a property that the thing must have if it is to exist. Could Descartes be deprived of thought and still be Descartes? Could Descartes have been born without the capacity of thought and still be Descartes? If Descartes can’t doubt that he thinks, is that enough to show that Descartes is essentially a thinking thing?
9. It was suggested in this chapter that we understand causality best when there is a physical signal that passes from cause to effect (the electricity example). However, the fact that “absences” sometimes cause suggests that causality need not involve a physical signal. For example, suppose a patient dies because his doctor fails to give him medicine. There is no “physical signal” between the doctor and patient in this case, but there is causation. Does this point solve the objection to dualism that concerns the nature of causality?
10. Would the discovery of perfect correlations between certain mental events and physical events (say, between experiences of pain and c-fiber firings) be evidence against dualism? Why or why not?
11. What are the two central arguments that advocates of the Mind/Brain Identity thesis typically appeal to when defending their position?
12. Why might someone doubt that the Principle of Uniformity is a surefire guide to which theories we should pursue? Do you think this skepticism is well-founded, or is it just another example of philosophers’ penchant for “radical doubt”?
13. Suppose we observe a perfect correlation between some mental property (like feeling pain) and some physical property (like having one’s c-fibers fire). Apply the Surprise Principle (Chapter 3) to see whether this observation strongly favors the identity theory over dualism.
14.In the passage from Principles of Natural Philosophy quoted in this chapter, Newton defends the Principle of Parsimony by saying that “Nature does nothing in vain.” Is this idea consistent with what we now know about natural selection (Chapter 6)?
you have seen various ways the different rights of individuals (citizenship,
social and political) within countries have been hurt either through direct state policy, control by the elite
or groups of individuals against the expansion of rights to other groups. You will apply this knowledge to
write an editorial article (intended for the general public who read newspapers) in which you explore why
a country of your choice has seen its level of democracy (or how much rights citizens have) decline in
recent years.
GENERAL SOURCES: To help you choose a country, you can use Freedom House’s freedom in the
world score and its reports:
https://freedomhouse.org/report/freedom-world/2022/global-expansion-authoritarian-rule
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_in_the_World
To have some general background about the country, you can explore the above Freedomhouse website,
but also use the CIA factbook:
https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/
For the academic source, use jstor, Academic Search Complete, Google Scholar, One Search or a
database you feel comfortable with to do a search. Use the name of the country with keywords such as
democracy, citizenship rights, authoritarianism etc…You only need one well-written academic source.
You are also expected to use at least 2 sources from our course. Even if they are not directly about your
country they will help give a general framework.
STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF THE EDITORIAL
1) Summarize the information that you found about the country to a general public by, for instance,
touching on issues of whose rights are being violated, why has democracy been hurt in recent
years etc…(about one page)
2) Explain to the reader (1) how some of the perspectives we have seen and the additional source
you will have found can help explain the changes in rights (about two pages) (2) how the new
source you found further highlights the usefulness of this framework.
3) Offer a solution, based on your analysis, of how this can be improved. Are there political elites
who should be pressured by the international community? Are there groups who should be
protected? Can there be social changes brought so that the country is more equal?
Tips for each section:
1) For section 1. Remember, you do not want to bore the reader with too much information, but you
also want to share some information with someone who does not have access to the same
information. Instead of saying COUNTRY A’s freedom house score decreased, try to give two
figures that show that it is low or has decreased. You can further give a vivid example of how
someone or a group has been impacted by the change.
2) For section 2, make sure that you give enough background to understand the perspectives we
have seen without getting into too much detail. For instance you can say something like
Quadagno (a sociologist) has demonstrated that state policy hurts policy rights or something like
Mann has shown that struggle over economic resources has led to violence between groups
etc…to then link to a description of what is going on today.
3) For section 3. Think about what kinds of solutions would be easy to implement. It could be
programs to help minorities, ways to provide incentives to the political elite to change their ways

○ Say something that will contribute to a meaningful discussion–this requires time and thought! Thoroughly reflect on and think about the point you are making. ○ Fully explain and elaborate your points, using examples, evidence, and logic to explain. ○ Speak with precision regarding your meaning, rather than being vague or general.
1st classmate comment : A CRM system is a way to collect and use a person’s information regarding that brand. This can be from signup sheets that are being used for voting, or even for ordering products online. Cloud computing is a way to access information and implementations online instead of having to access all this information through a company’s/person’s personal hard drive. It allows for free use of storage and does not limit the people who need all the information they can have. It also is completely autonomous meaning that a person who wanted to access the cloud would not need to bring their floppy disk with them to access the data, but rather can have complete access to it through the cloud. Another great take away is the cloud computing is scalable allowing companies or users to intentionally cut down, or up how much usage they want from the cloud provider unlike floppy disks or even memory cards that have a set number of Gigabytes in them. However, CRM is also great for collecting data from its customers to help create a greater relationship between the brand, and their customers. Some of the data collected includes client’s personal preference of communication, email, phone number, and social media data. Not just for customers are their benefits, but also for the companies that use Cloud based CRM platforms to. A couple of those being affordability, easy instillation, secure use, and incredible reliability. In my personal opinion I think that CRM is already being used heavily. I am currently also enrolled in a CRM course this quarter and while taking that class I began to understand the importance of CRM. Especially when it comes to creating that trust between the brand and the customer. Such things as loyalty programs would have been unheard of 20 years ago, but now they are a primary source for a company to understand who they are selling to.

I wonder why the fish from the first pond are so much bigger than those of the second pond? Hypothesis: I hypothesize that the fish are larger in the first pond because the fish in it are a different species than those in the other pond Prediction: Based on this hypothesis, I predict that that based on the species will have to do with the size and weight found in each pond. I’m looking for three main pieces to contribute with the information above: 1) descriptive title, 2) introduction to your proposed study, and 3) details of your experimental design. The introduction and experimental design components should be presented in separate sections with the titles “Introduction” and “Experimental Design”. For the Introduction section, I want you to present your observation, question, hypothesis, & prediction once again. This should be fairly easy since you completed this step in your last assignment. However, this time make sure to write your introduction in paragraph form. Many of you did this in the first assignment, but several of you just gave me a bulleted listing of items. Section 2: For the Experimental Design section, you’ll need to clearly articulate how you plan to test your prediction. Here are some things for you to consider and report on in the Experimental Design section:
Is your experiment a manipulative or natural experiment?
Are you conducting a snapshot or a trajectory study?
What are your predictor / independent variables and what type of variable are they? Continuous, categorical, or ordinal?
What are your response / dependent variables and what type of variable are they? Continuous, categorical, or ordinal?
What is the experimental unit? This is the object/entity receiving a treatment (manipulative) or serving as a single observation (natural).
What type of generic statistical design? Regression, ANOVA, logistic regression, or Chi-square?
What are some potential confounding variables that you might have to deal with? Can you account for those confounding variables in your design? How so?
Exactly how are you going to measure those your responses? Be as precise as possible.
How are you going to improve independence among replicates?
How many replicates will you have?
How are you going to randomize your design?
Do you need a block design? Spatial or temporal (blocks scattered through space or blocks scattered through time)?
Are you looking for interactions? This only applies to experiments with more than one explanatory variable (i.e., multi-factor analysis) These questions are meant to help guide your development of an experiment. Some questions may not apply to your experimental system.
