“Stuck in the Middle” of adulthood

A large portion of middle aged adults (defined as ages 40-65 in the psychological sciences) find themselves “sandwiched” as some point in this phase of their lives. Read about the “Sandwich Generation” here —> Pew Research Center <— and consider the following:

Discuss two burdens the Sandwich Generation faces on a daily basis.
As the Baby Boomer generation (birth years: 1944-1964) ages and fills less of the “sandwich” (as many of their own parents have already passed away and their children are now grown), what unique challenges or benefits do you predict may impact the growing numbers of Generations Xers (birth years: 1965-1979) and Millenials (birth years: 1980-1997) who occupy this space?
Take a moment to consider the mental health of this age group. Middle aged adults are diagnosed more so than any other age group with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Share a mental health resource (website, hotline, local facility, etc.) that can offer assistance to those in need.
Write a short answer response of about 1-2 paragraphs (minimum 150 words) about it.

Principles of effective negotiation and conflict management to resolve power struggles

How can managers best use the principles of effective negotiation and conflict management to resolve power struggles within health care settings, and what types of power struggles in health care settings do you believe are most amenable to using negotiation and conflict management techniques? What are specific ways to limit the potential for power abuse in health care organizations? What specific human resource strategies and transparency mechanisms could be created within hospitals or physician practices, for example, that would help prevent any stakeholder, particularly the top leaders of an organization, from pursuing self-interested goals in suspect ways?

Advanced Web Development using Web Services

Research paper topic and delaines:
You are to write a research paper about a topic (you may choose your own topic) that is closely related to web services. Some examples of topics are but not limited to web services security issues, web services in mobile devices, etc. Your paper will be due by April 26th. Please submit the chosen topic of your paper by March 31st via email.

In order to show your understanding of the topic, review the concepts from primary research papers, books, and other sources. Your efforts to the preparation before writing the paper will weigh in towards receiving a good grade on this assignment. It is important to note that academic honesty will be considered as a major factor and students are asked to practice it in all steps of the process.

A multitude of factors influence how and if an individual moves

A multitude of factors influence how and if an individual moves within or between social strata in society. These
determinant factors, along with the overall structure of any given society, have a large impact on how an
individual is able to access basic services, such as education and health care, and thus greatly change the
individual’s overall quality of life.
Getting Started
Choose a character from a movie, a film-adapted book, or a play and examine the social structure in which that
character exists. You should research the components of the character’s social context and describe how your
chosen character exemplifies the characteristics of a typical person with their social position within the chosen
social context. Research the effects of at least four or five determinant factors such as gender, race, and ethnicity
and their effects on crime rates (offending and/or victimization). Once you have researched your character’s
social context, you will create a PowerPoint presentation that exhibits how that character’s storyline would be
different if three or four of those determinant factors were changed. How, for example, would the story change if
the character were a man instead of a woman? Or of a different race?
At the end of your project, you will provide:
A 8-10 slide PowerPoint presentation you create, which:
1. Provides two or three screenshots and/or clips from the original film to provide an overview of the context in
which the character exists
2. Shows how the character’s storyline would change if three or four determinant factors were different through
detailed examples
3. Uses one or two concepts and theories and appropriate terminology from the text to explain the character’s
society and their position in society
4. Analyze what your own station in the chosen society would be based on your own determinant factors (Latina
female) and whether, perhaps, such factors could increase/decrease your chances at becoming an offender or
becoming a victim of crime.
5. Compare the analysis of the character’s social mobility versus your own in the chosen society
6. Analyze how your current life would be different if you existed in the chosen social context
7. Cite three to five academic resources, one or two newspaper or magazine articles, and the film chosen
