Actualization tendency is when someone’s sense of who they are

reply to at least two peers

1. Actualization tendency is when someone’s sense of who they are, is consistent with their self image. It influences the the practice of person-centered therapy by the client having an active role in the therapy sessions. The client works in improving what they hoped to improve in the treatment.
2. I am a client who suffers from acrophobia, meaning I am afraid of heights. Growing up, I was always afraid to jump off dive boards, and I never went on rollercoasters. In therapy, I would like my therapist to use in vivid (gradual exposure), which requires small steps in introducing my fear of heights. For example, maybe jumping off gradually high objects. I chose gradual exposure because I believe these steps are better versus facing head-on the fear that has brought me to therapy. Flooding would not be effective, since I was not able to conquer the fear of heights.

Corporate Social Responsibility

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?
Managers must consider how the products or services they provide affect both people and the environment. It is a given that companies must provide products and services that are innovative and appealing to the consumer, and efficient to produce or provide (as a service). However, today’s technologies allow consumers, communities, public interest groups and regulators to be well informed about all aspects of a firm’s performance. As a direct result, all stakeholders can have a strong view about firms that fail to respect the environment or that engage in unethical conduct.
Many companies now realize that “doing what’s right” and doing it properly can be beneficial to all its stakeholders and maintain or increase their margin rates (i.e., profitability). Companies that practice Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) introduce polices that consider environmental, societal and financial impacts in their decision making. As managers consider approaches to CSR, they find it helpful to consider the concept of creating shared value. Shared value suggests finding policies and practices that enhance the firm’s competitiveness while simultaneously advancing the social and/or economic conditions in the communities in which they operate. For example, Tesla, Toyota, Nissan and now Ford and GM find shared value in low-emission vehicles…. vehicles that increase their competitiveness world-wide, while meeting society’s interest in low emission vehicles.
Operations functions – from supply chain management to product design, to production, quality assurance, packaging and logistics, provide an opportunity for finding shared value while meeting CSR goals.
Research Assignment- Select a public or privately-owned company that has demonstrated either a positive CSR approach or a negative approach to social responsibility.

Original Constitution say about slavery

What did the original Constitution say about slavery? Though the fate of slavery was not the foremost issue facing the framers of the Constitution, there was debate over slavery during the convention. Southern states wanted slaves to be counted in the national census because that would increase their representation in the national government. Framers compromised and agreed to count each slave as three-fifths of a person. Another issue had to do with the international slave trade, which many delegates wanted to ban. Eventually, it was agreed that Congress would not be able to outlaw the international slave trade for twenty years. Lastly, at the insistence of delegates from southern states, the Constitution included a fugitive slave clause requiring northern states to return runaway slaves. Though many delegates, including some from southern states, believed slavery would eventually die out, the final document helped to ensure that slavery would become a permanent part of the new nation for decades to come.
