The enzymes responsible for breaking down glucose

Please take a look at David Goodsell’s illustrations of the enzymes responsible for breaking down glucose at http://pdb101.rcsb.org/motm/50 Links to an external site.. Skim the articles, then randomly choose one enzyme from the ten discussed to read about in detail. (I leave it to you how you do this, but I’d like it to be RANDOM. For example, ask someone else for a random number, or look the last digit on the nearest digital clock. Or just click here: https://www.google.com/search?q=random+number+from+1+to+10 Links to an external site.) For your selected enzyme, read David Goodsell’s article thoroughly, read at least one external resource (make sure you cite it correctly!), and post something interesting that you learned.

Mountain climbing

Describe which gas law applies and how. What is the combined gas law? Provide an example
Which do you believe is more dangerous to work with in the chemistry laboratory- acids or bases? Why? Select an example of either an acid or base to illustrate your point. Discuss any safety precautions you would take in the laboratory when working with your chosen acid or base.

The gas laws

write a 1.5- to 2-page essay addressing the questions below.

  1. Select one of the gas laws from the Module Overview or readings (Boyle’s, Charles’, Gay-Lussac’s, Henry’s, Avogadro’s or Dalton’s).
  2. Discuss the historical development of the law (who is credited for having formulated the law? What led to its development? How does the law describe the characteristics of gases?)
  3. Explain how gases respond when one variable in your chosen gas law changes while others remain constant (such as temperature, pressure, or volume).
  4. In what way is your chosen law important to our everyday lives? (find an example and explain).

Cocaine vs. Methamphetamine

1. Why did you select the topic? (ex: “finger nail polish remover”)
2. What is your full topic for the final paper? (ex: “Eco-friendly alternatives of fingernail polish remover”; or “How does fingernail polish remover remove nail polish?”
3. Provide an outline of what you want to talk about in your final paper.

Aldol condensation

Explain an organic reaction to the general public to make it understandable even if it is a complicated topic.
Which functional group are you targeting with your chosen reaction?
Which functional group are you obtaining?
Why is this reaction used in drug discovery?
What is the mechanism (you should draw the mechanism with arrows and electrons) for your reaction?
Please CLEARLY draw the molecule and mechanism on paper.
What are the reagents used in the reaction such as solvents? What are the conditions of the reaction? Are there any side products formed during the reactions? If yes, how can you limit them?
