CASE STUDY: Preschool Child: Ricky

Ricky, age 4 years, arrives in the clinic with his mother. Ricky lives with his mother and father,
who both work full-time, and his infant sister. Their extended family lives in a different state
more than 100 miles away. Both parents are of average height and in good health. Ricky’s
mother mentions that Ricky often expresses frustration, particularly in regard to food. Conflict
over food occurs every day. Mealtime is a battle to get him to eat, unless his mother feeds him.
Ricky’s baby sister seems to tolerate all baby foods but requires her mother to spoon-feed.
Ricky’s mother is quite frustrated and concerned that he will become malnourished.
Reflective Questions

  1. What additional assessment information would you collect?
  2. What questions would you ask, and how would you further explore this issue with the
    mother?
  3. In what ways does the distance of the extended family influence this family’s approach
    to health promotion?
  4. What factors would you consider to determine whether malnourishment is a factor in
    this family?

I would also wish to continue with this course as it has offered various terms and conditions to prevent the collapsing of well established businesses with a history of over 100 years. This topic has also given me the understanding of why Caribbean Businesses are going through the said problems over and over again for many years.

Psychosocial theoretical concepts of life stages

Using the psychosocial theoretical concepts of life stages, examine your own life activities, behaviors, and things you are learning during each period of your life.

Give a summary of your life situations in each of Erikson’s stages. How do your experiences compare to Erikson’s life stage assumptions? Explain.
What role have environment and culture played in shaping your behavior and activities, values, and views of those with differing backgrounds?
Discuss how Erikson’s life stage theory is useful to the helping professional. If you do not believe his life stage theory is useful then explain your opinion.

Standards To Support Gap Analysis

Information security audit teams assess compliance with information security requirements and identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). Formal standards or frameworks such as, ISO22301.

Construct a gap analysis matrix that captures the top 10 information security requirements. The matrix should, at a minimum, include the following:

· Columns for the critical level of the requirement

· Level of compliance

· Responsible organization

· Findings

· Recommendations

Assume 5 of the 10 requirements do not meet the compliance criteria.

Hypothesize the responsible accountable organization, findings, and recommendations for the non-compliant requirements.

Brundtland Convention

In 1987, the Brundtland Convention defined sustainability as finding ways to live today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. As discussed in Chapter 4, the goal of sustainability was defined by developed, egalitarian-minded, mostly European countries, and the values of the participants impacted how they viewed sustainability. Chapter 4 also discussed that we don’t know what needs will be in the future, therefore we can’t know how sustainable we are in the present.

Think about how you view and define sustainability. How would do those around you define sustainability: ask three people (for example: a parent, a roommate, the TA for calculus office hours, your boss, or a store clerk). Report your answer and the most interesting answer you got from someone else. Did the three people have similar views as you? What surprised you? Is there any overlap with Dr. Allenby’s textbook?

Next, compare this to what past and future generations each would have thought about the concept (or myth?) of sustainability, especially the four components: environmental, economic, social, and cultural sustainability.
