Research shows that the development of reading and writing proficiencies are closely aligned and depend on many of the same skills. This can be particularly important for literacy development of ELLs. By taking advantage of this relationship, teachers can improve skills and achievement in both areas.

Should America encourage free trade with its trading partners or seek a more protectionist approach? Take a stand on this issue. It is not enough to argue BOTH sides of the issue. Support your opinion with good economic reasoning. Who benefits from your approach and who loses? Why? Include impacts on both American citizens and the citizens of the other countries with whom we (U.S.) trade. If your home country is outside the U.S. indicate the possible impact of your stand (favoring either free trade or trade protectionism) on your country. Carefully read the article corresponding to your topic. (Articles can be found in the locker corresponding to your group.) Identify the purpose, hypotheses, key variables (independent, dependent, or correlational) and how they are operationalized, type of research design (e.g., experimental, correlational, quasi-experimental), procedure (including cover story), and key results. You can use the article analysis form to summarize these details if you wish, but this form does not need to be submitted. If your article is a multi-study paper, read the whole article, and summarize the first study and then briefly (in 1-2 sentences) mention how the subsequent studies differed from the first study.
Then describe implications of the results (in plain language) and a possible follow-up study. Explain why your follow-up study is important and what it would tell us about this line of research. Aim to propose something original rather than something described in the Discussion section of the article. Finish the paper with an APA style reference for the article. The paper should be written in paragraph format, in accordance with APA style. As writing quality is especially essential in such a short piece, plan to write multiple drafts.

Develop a strategic action plan for yourself.

Introduction
The final step in developing your strategic plan is to translate your strategy into action. A robust action plan contains four elements:

Identification of specific actions to be undertaken in the next year or less.
Establishment of a clear time frame for the completion of each action.
Creation of accountability by identifying who is responsible for each action.
Determination of one or more specific, immediate objectives that the action should achieve.
Functional tactics and monetary ramifications are the underlying details of your strategic action plan. Functional tactics are short-term, narrow-scoped plans that detail the activities you will use to achieve your short-term objectives. The monetary ramifications of your strategic plan will likely be expressed in both income and expenses, for example, the amount of increased income anticipated by climbing the corporate ladder and the amount of money you may need to spend on education or professional development.

Note: Developing a strategic plan requires specific steps that need to be executed in a sequence. The assessments in this course are presented in order and should be completed in sequence.

In the previous assessments, you have developed your mission statement, conducted a personal SWOT analysis and environmental scan, and laid out your long-term and short-term objectives. Now, you will create a strategic plan to achieve your objectives.

Your completed Strategic Action Plan will be based on the information from your mission statement, your SWOT analysis, environmental scan, and your long-term and short-term plans; however, you do not need to include these items in this assessment.

Develop a strategic action plan in which you address the following:

Specific steps you will need to take in the next year to achieve your 5-year objectives.
A time frame for completing each action.
The scorecard you will use to measure the success of each action.
The functional tactics you will use to achieve your short-term objectives.
The resources (financial, human, and other) you will use to complete each action.
An analysis of the monetary ramifications of each action.
A plan for monitoring the progress of the action plan.
A plan for handling obstacles or roadblocks.
An explanation of how your overall strategic plan reflects your mission statement.
To successfully complete this assessment, you may need to do some research on strategic action plans. Format this assessment as a research paper following current APA guidelines for both style and citing sources, making sure that you also use correct grammar and mechanics. There is no required minimum or maximum page length; however, you should strive to be as detailed as possible in addressing each bullet point, while also being as clear and concise as possible.

Articles relevant to issues in the United States and that pertain to organizational behavior

Investigate professional journals and locate two articles relevant to issues in the United States and that pertain to organizational behavior topics from this course that interest you. You are to critique each article according to the instructions below. The articles should be less than three-years-old. You are to use the ProQuest Central database found in the University of Arizona Global Campus Library.

Each three-page critique (a total of six pages for both critiques) must include the following three parts. Include both article reviews into one document for submission to Waypoint (do not submit two documents).

Complete the following three parts:

Identify the articles
Provide the reader with enough information about your articles so they will be able to locate the article. Describe your search process.
Summarize the articles
Identify the main points that the authors have tried to establish (i.e., 1, 2, 3, or first, second, third). There normally will be three to five main points per article. If you are summarizing a court case, you should discuss the following:
What provision of the law was at issue? Briefly state the facts of the case.
What legal tests were applied?
Were there any unusual elements in the case?
Provide sufficient information to demonstrate you understand the content of the article.
