“Groups as Systems.” Zajonc states, “Synergy can take either a physical or a mental form

Locate and read the article listed for this assignment titled “Groups as Systems.” Zajonc states, “Synergy can take either a physical or a mental form. The physical presence of others is often arousing, so more work is accomplished. Even ants work harder when there is more than one of them on the job” (Henman, n.d., p.2). In the mental sense, synergy forms when a type of collective intelligence and shared memory begin to develop as the group matures.

Reflect on a group experience where you noticed this shift to synergy with your group. (Some ideas: at a human services agency where you work, a different occupation, serving on a committee, a group in college, etc.) Describe this experience as vividly as possible, with plenty of detail and analysis of as many group members (in regard to their contributions to attaining synergy) that you can recall.

The relationship between form, content, and subject matter

Take a look at the sculptures by Alberto Giacometti (fig 3.14, page 43) and Henry Moore (fig. 23.34, page 432) in your text. Both pieces are good examples of the relationship between form, content, and subject matter. How do you feel the form of each sculpture expresses the content? What specific characteristics give us clues and communicate meaning? Be specific.
Select a third work of art from the text and discuss how the form and content relate. Identify at least five visual elements and/or principles of design in your analysis of the third piece. Include an image of the piece you choose.

How artistic freedom different

More than ever, artists around the world are exposed to global culture through media, technology, tourism and foreign trade. Artists will continue to learn, adapt, remodel, transform, ‘steal’ and devise a multitude of other uses for ideas from other cultures and artists, living and dead. In the academic world, and indeed much of the rest of the world, it is not OK to use another’s work without permission or acknowledgement.

How is this artistic freedom different?
