Where should we place the blame for the Great Depression

Where should we place the blame for the Great Depression?
Where should we place the blame? Economists believe the Great Depression was caused by the weaknesses in the 1920s economy, but the person whose name will be forever linked to the depression is President Herbert Hoover. Personally blaming him for the crisis, Americans started to call the shantytowns set up by unemployed people “Hoovervilles.”

In 1971, Philip Zimbardo’s The Stanford Prison Experiment

In 1971, Philip Zimbardo’s The Stanford Prison Experiment demonstrated the power of the situation and the interaction between social interaction and social structure. After viewing the documentary, if you had been a guard, do you think you would have been more likely to go along with the other guards or would you have resisted or spoken up about treating the prisoners the way you would have wanted to be treated if the roles had been reversed? How could this experiment help someone to understand criminal behavior?

Responses should be no less than 500 words in length and must reference specific parts of
the documentaries as support for your analysis

Senior executive for a large company

1. Imagine you’re a senior executive for a large company. You’ve just been put in charge of your companies Information Security (IS) Program and told that your mandate is to prevent cybercrime through developing sound policy. Your primary challenges are twofold: 1) You are a transnational company and employees travel all over the globe; and 2) Your company has no active audit program in place to quantify vulnerabilities and potential losses from attacks to information systems. Attack them one at a time…
o Realizing that when employees travel they are exposed to risk and possible cyberattack… You need to put information security protocols in place for individuals traveling abroad; specifically what other steps will you put in place to ensure that information (and equipment) will be secure? Will your plan vary depending on the countries your employees visit or is it one security plan works for all countries visited? Why? What steps must employees take before leaving and how will you measure that those steps have been taken?
o Your other immediate challenge is to discuss with management the challenges associated with quantifying vulnerabilities and potential losses from attacks to your company’s computer systems. What’s involved in doing that and what are some of the biggest challenges involved in accomplishing that kind of assessment?
2. What is your take on the “Why Leaders Should Care About Security” podcast you listened to this week. Are the perspectives espoused in the podcast naïve and idealistic, or spot on?

Gretchen responsible for violating the alcohol policy

You, the judicial hearing officer, find Gretchen responsible for violating the alcohol policy; she was caught consuming alcohol as a minor. While this is her first offense, university policy mandates that her parents be notified of the infraction. Gretchen begs you not to inform her parents about the violation. She pleads that her dad has cancer and is out of work, and her mother is barely keeping things together. They are both making major sacrifices to put her through college. She knows that she messed up and wants to assume responsibility for her poor choices, but she doesn’t want to add to their stress by disappointing them. You don’t know Gretchen well, but she has a compelling argument and you empathize with her.

What are the problems in this case? Is one more central than another? Should you address any problems that are beyond your scope as a judicial advisor? Explain.
What are your options for handling the present dilemma? What are the potential consequences of each course of action?
Knowing a bit more about Gretchen’s complicated home environment, how if at all, might you continue to assist her> what services might be available to assist her during this challenging time?
2. The article specifically stated that: “University spokesman Rod Guajardo acknowledged that an Ole Miss official had received a copy of the Instagram picture in March. The university referred the matter to the university police department, which in turn gave it to the FBI.

Guajardo said the FBI told police it would not further investigate the incident because the photo did not pose a specific threat.

Guajardo said that while the university considered the picture “offensive,” the image did not present a violation of the university’s code of conduct. He noted the incident depicted in the photo occurred off-campus and was not part of a university-affiliated event.”

The administration of Ole Miss knew about the photo but chose not to file student conduct charges. Question: Should the code of conduct follow students off-campus? Meaning, should student behavior off-campus fall under the umbrella of the code of conduct. Please provide one recent article (2009-Present) to provide evidence for your answer
