What is a public policy meeting? A meeting held by public or governmental officials to discuss and deal with public problems or issues, communicate and disseminate information, and engage in problem-solving, policy change strategizing and/or decision making. Open public policy meetings are when the public’s business is conducted in open, noticed meetings, where the public, lobbyists and members of the news media have the right to attend, record, broadcast, and in some cases participate in the meeting. An open meeting agenda is usually posted in advance and meeting materials may be made available.

search 3 literature in databases for ONE qualitative article, ONE quantitative article, and ONE Systematic Review article that was published within 5 years of today’s date, is peer-reviewed, and is related to your PICOT/clinical question. Reminder: All peer-reviewed research articles have methods, discussion, and results sections. Be careful not to submit a mixed research study which is a mix of both quantitative and qualitative elements or an EBP or QI project report.

2)Ensure that you are using a PICOT topic (Nursing Staffing and Patient Safety: Shiftwork). Read the first few sentences of the methods section of your articles to assess what type of article you have. And make sure that the article you chose can answer your PICOT/clinical question.

4) Mixed methods studies are not allowed for this assignment and are identified by reading the first few sentences in the Methods section.
5) Systematic review articles are not to be submitted as quantitative or qualitative articles. These can be easily confused with primary quantitative research articles. They have also been published in peer-reviewed journals but seek to synthesize and summarize the work of a particular sub-field rather than report on new results. Review articles will often lack a “Materials and Methods” section.

Consider a common diagnosis for patients in your clinical experience. If you are not currently in clinical, identify medications related to a diagnosis you are familiar with.
What medication is your patient taking? Identify the mechanism of action and therapeutic action of medications in use for constipation, urinary tract issues, hypertension, atherosclerosis, angina, dysrhythmias, anticoagulants, antiplatelet and thrombolytic drugs.
Many of the cardiovascular medications have multiple therapeutic uses. What are these meds being used for?
What are the therapeutic actions that you will be monitoring for? Can you monitor them with nursing interventions?
What are the potential systemic adverse reactions to the medications? How will you monitor for those adverse effects? How will they be treated?
Are there potential toxicity’s related to any medication your patient is taking? What developmental concerns might the healthcare provider need to consider with your patient related to these medications?
