Write a “About us page” for the ECI website: no more than 700 words
In April, the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI) released Principles & Practices of High-Quality Ethics & Compliance Programs. The report is a first of its kind framework for establishing a gold standard or very high quality compliance programs to avoid the risk of fraud and to increase the likelihood that if it occurs it will be made known to management and the business or organization will responsibly handle suspected and substantiated wrongdoing.
The panel says that the de facto standard for “effectiveness” in compliance program design has been largely based on minimum standards or definitions set forth by such entities as the United States Sentencing Commission. But, the panel also points out that, “there are organizations that have not only successfully complied; they have transformed their workplaces through a higher vision for their Ethics & Compliance efforts. The purpose of this report is to articulate the principles and key practices that characterize these high quality ethics and compliance programs (HQPs) in order to offer actionable ideas that other organizations can adopt.”
ECI’s role is to help organizations develop and sustain high quality ethics and compliance programs (HQPs). We have modified our product offerings and will shape all activities to align with this model, and adjusted our mission statement to reflect this shift. As such, the ECI’s mission is to empower organizations to establish and sustain high quality ethics & compliance programs. Now we must inform our members and external stakeholders of the change, and develop content for the following distribution channels:
