Because the counseling profession, for instance, emphasizes social justice and advocacy, counselors are ethically responsible to “recognize and advocate to eliminate racism, sexism, classism, homoprejudice, ableism, ageism, and religious bias” (Remley & Herlihy, 2020, p. 78).
