Select a company and provide management recommendations based on your analysis of a specific business issue from the perspective of a data set that you either collect for the purposes of this project, or have access to use. You should analyze the data using SPSS and use the analyses to provide the management recommendations.
The paper should include a problem statement, hypotheses, statistical evidence, and management recommendations. At a minimum the statistics should include correlations, descriptive statistics, and multiple regression.
The paper is to be written in APA format and should be 3-5 pages in length. Tables, figures, and graphs may be appended and should be no more than 6 pages in length.
Examples of prior project topics:
Human Resources: Analysis of factors affecting the time to fill posted positions. What are the most effective “levers” that recruiting groups can use to reduce the time to fill? Used data already held in the department to do regression analysis and also compare across recruiting groups.
Market Positioning for a new Restaurant: Analysis of what customers in the relevant geographic area are most interested in seeing for a new restaurant. Collected data via surveys preferences for location, menu, décor, etc. Analysis was mostly descriptive with some analysis of variance examining differences in preferences across demographic groups.
Quality Control: Analysis of factors influencing pharmacy plan error rates (errors in processing benefits) and the best ways to reduce errors. Used data already held by the company and performed regression analysis to identify error rate drivers.

Problem statement. Describe background information, business case and decision(s) to be made, and objectives. 10
Hypotheses. State alternative and null hypotheses for questions to be answered 10
Data Sources. Discuss how the datasets were chosen, or alternatively, how the data were collected. Discuss the relevance of the data and issues in the data. Along with the presentation, the SPSS data set should be posted. The data set will be reviewed for quality and completeness. Data problems and any data cleaning done should be explained in an attachment to the data set. 10
Analysis. Present the analyses that are relevant to the decision to be made, along with the results of those analyses. The analyses must be supported with relevant output from SPSS, tables, graphs, figures, etc. The types of analyses you choose to do must be justified and explained and models must be clearly specified and appropriate. 20
Tables, Figures, Graphs. Paper uses graphs, figures, and tables to present. Graphs, tables, and figures are formatted well, are easy to read and understand, and present only necessary data and statistics. 10
Interpretations. Results must be fully and correctly presented, interpreted, and explained. 20
Management Recommendations. Based on the data and analyses presented, provide recommendations for management to make a decision and take action based on the data. 10
Paper uses proper grammar; is well organized & persuasive; adheres to guidelines, including length. Follows APA format. 10
