Write an argument essay where you join an on-going academic discussion by asserting your own
viewpoint on the topic of education. Your argument will be based on having read the assigned
reading for both the argument unit and other essays this semester related to education.
You must incorporate three sources in your essay, which requires you to summarize, paraphrase,
quote, and cite, but this is not a research paper. All three sources must be from our assigned
reading list this semester. Two of the sources must be from the following essays in the
Argument unit:
– Graff “Hidden Intellectualism”
– Maeda “On Meaningful Observation”
– Staples “Why Colleges Shower Students with A’s”
– Wildfire “The Internet Is Not Ruining Grammar”
All three of your sources can be from the list above, or if you prefer, you may select one of the
following essays to pair with two from Argument unit:
– Barry “The Sanctuary of School”
– Rose “Blue Collar Brilliance”
