Follow-on Service Project Proposal: Promoting Study Abroad and the Gilman Scholarship

As a Gilman scholar, I am committed to spearheading a Follow-on Service Project that aims to enhance awareness of study abroad opportunities and the Gilman Program among my peers in the campus community. Through a multifaceted approach, my project will incorporate various initiatives to engage students and encourage them to explore the benefits of international experiences.

Project Description

The core of my project will involve organizing a series of informational sessions and workshops on study abroad opportunities and the Gilman Scholarship. These sessions will cover topics such as the application process, financial aid options, destination highlights, and personal testimonies from past Gilman scholars. Additionally, I plan to create engaging promotional materials, including flyers, social media campaigns, and video testimonials, to reach a wider audience.

Target Community

I have chosen to focus on the undergraduate student body at my campus due to the diverse range of interests and academic backgrounds present in this community. By targeting my peers, I aim to showcase the accessibility and relevance of study abroad programs across various disciplines and majors. Furthermore, engaging with undergraduate students allows me to directly address common misconceptions or barriers that may deter individuals from pursuing international experiences.

Integration of Abroad Experience

Drawing upon my own study abroad experience, I will incorporate personal anecdotes, insights, and lessons learned into the project presentations.
